"Someone tapped into a main line of the GlobeNet, sir...matrixed the entire data system in less than two hours. They were gone before we could get a fix on them, once we noticed the tap."

"How is it that you didn't notice this? And how did they matrix the entire system? That's like downloading the entire old internet...it shouldn't be possible."

"You're right sir, it shouldn't. And we didn't notice them because they used an ancient subsystem backdoor routine...apparently one of the original coders was a movie buff."

"Movie buff? Explain."

"The override access code used was directly out of an old 20th century film...bypassed all of the safeguards and allowed direct access to the full datastream..."

"What was this access code?"

"Password series PS 17, Reindeer Flotilla...it's from the movie..."

"I know the film. Has the backdoor been closed?"

"Yes sir, we pulled the code as soon as we traced it back. They won't be getting in that way again."

"And you say they had unrestricted access to the full datastream with this code?"

"Yes sir...everything, no firewalls, no ICE, nothing in their way."

"I see. Is there any way they could get back into the system like that?"

"No sir, not that my team could find. We covered every entry method we could think of. If they wanted that kind of access again, they would have to do it from a hardline terminal...no way around it."

"Good. Maintain a watch on the system, Burns. If anything else unusual occurs, I want to be informed immediately."
