Description So... yeah... There are a few reasons I'm posting this. 1) to help out the members in so that they can always post the best characters they can, and 2) because the amount of Mary Sues that exist in the MLP FIM community is getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of hand.

Now to be fair, there was a tutorial like this that I saw a while back, but I haven't been able to find it since. So I decided to make my own :3

There is no rule that says all alicorns have to be princesses. Besides, my character is male.

What I'm saying is EVERY Alicorn in MLP is a Princess, and if there was a male Alicorn in MLP, then he'd be a Prince. While it's not a rule, the CANON is that every Alicorn is a Princess (or Prince if he was male).

Demi-God? Really? Of course it's royalty, it's part GOD.

I think it's a bit stupid to say Alicorn's are special, and off limits, or that they make a character a compete sue, cause, lets face it, I've seen more earth pony and Unicorn sues then i have Alicorn.

Alicorns have more power than a usual unicorn, plus larger wings which means more wingpower. All 4 alicorns in the MLP world are princesses, two of them control celestial beings, and one controls an EMOTION. To say that they're godlike is an understatement, and to make an OC alicorn that's not a princess makes no sense.

To be honest, It seems to be proven that Unicorn's and Alicorns have the same magic ability's. This by Star Swirl the bearded alone in the comics![And he's as nutty as pinkie pie!]

Wings, I'm not going to get into that as it seems to depend on the style, plus Twilight CLEARLY sucks at flying if it hasn't been stressed enough.

Princess is a title earned, not given in equestria by canon. So a Alicorn that is not a princess very much can exist. In-fact a spell exists to change a pony into a Alicorn, which was shown in the Comics. (Which are canon to the show, Sunset shimmer had a book, and was demanding celestia turn her.]

You do realize that in Equestria is the only place where the sun and moon need to be raised, right? This is canon information. They don't raise it for the whole world.

As for the emotional manipulation, that is not what cadance does, she what we call a relationship couclier at best, as she fixes relationships by solving a problem. She's not controlling said emotions. She's only fixing the problem that's causing the relationship to go sour...It's also been shown, she sucks at magic, which matches with the fact she was a Pegasuses at first. [And if Skyla is indeed Cadance and Shining Armor's daughter, it very well means they can be naturally born by Peguses x Unicorn if we are to assume Cadances alicorn transformation doesn't effect her genetics]

Only to you, There is no harm in making a Alicorn oc that isn't a prince or princess, it's all a matter of information and a person's writing. It's not the Characters race's fault for someone who writes like shit.

Magic: Stronger than a Unicorn's. Starswirl and Twilight are unfair comparisons considering Starswirl is a famous (atleast in the magic world) unicron known for his complex spells and powerful magic, and Twi is known all over Equestria for her magical powers. Her element is literally magic, and both of them are students/friends of the Sun Goddess herself, soo...

Wings: Larger and thus more powerful. You can't expect Twilight to be a pro with her wings considering she JUST GOT THEM. It would be expected that she's awful with them, wouldn't you be a bit noobish if you randomly got wings? How would you know which muscles to contract and which to relax if you've never had said muscles before?

The spell to give ponies wings is very difficult, Twilight, a powerful unicorn, had trouble doing the spell herself. We later see Celesta perform the spell with ease, so to say that unicorns and alicorns have the same magical strength would be a bit of a stretch.

Genetics: Even if a unicorn and a pegasus were able to produce offspring, and the child happened to be an alicorn (going be genetics, it's not possible, use this handy thing for stuff) then the alicorn would have very weak wings, since the unicorn doesn't have wings, and very weak magic, since the pegasus doesn't have a horn. Since Cadance didn't have a horn before, a way to channel her magic, then her genetics would have had to be different from that of a pony who had both a horn and wings.

The title of princess and the rise to alicornhood seem to happen at the same time; Twilight becoming an alicorn, and then OFFICIALLY a princess at the coronation, and (presumably) the same for Cadance.
And yes, this is entirely my opinion, but making a godlike alicorn character seems a bit overboard.

Atlanta-Hammy In reply to Winter-Hooves [2014-04-21 23:21:29 +0000 UTC]

It's completely not unfair, as it appeasers any Unicorn can learn to do this, Let's not forget, Sunset shimmer could of possibly also done this! and her talents relates to fire by the looks, and not magic.

Still, Let's not forget that Flur has Luna's body style, and this was to make her look more super model like, So in that sense, if she was a Pegasuses instead, She'd also have the same big wings! Bigger wings does not mean Stronger. It can very much be there because it makes everything look like it matches, Cause lets be honest, those big wings looked awkward on twilight before she had a body change. Also it seems Rainbow Dash is even a better flyer then Celestia.

When ever I see someone complaining about alicorn's their WHINING about how the characters can't use magic or fly, while completely ignoring that this is likely meant to be a thing they overcome in a story. Or they just are not lucky enough to have someone to teach them. The cake's parents are both earth ponys, so when they get older their going to have to rely on others to teach them how to fly, and do magic.

But she still did it with Rarity. Also, Celestia didn't do anything, it appeasers to have been magic it's self. The magic came from Twilgihts heart [or was it her horn?] and made Twilgiht a Alicorn.

No no No NO do not use another artist opinion to back your own. That is not how generics work. Plus they are completely forgetting about chimerism, which is not that uncommon in animals. [Horses included]

No, it's just stated that the title of Princess is earned, not being a Alicorn. Let's not forget King Sombra, a KING UNICORN. [Given he did take it by force, but it appears in the comic, in a alternate world that Star Swirl an Celestia can get to thanks to Star Swirl making a magic mirror, He's a Unicorn still even though he's a good guy.] And don't try to pull the "only girls can be alicorns" on me, and Prince Leon is a child, male, alicorn.

The problem is, when ever i see people crying, it's about how the Alicorn ISN'T a god, and ISN'T a princess, and just a Unicorn that can fly..know..Like Real normal mythical Alicorns. This is the problem i have. People are trying to FORCE the special-snowflake-ism headcanon onto EVERYONE.

Winter-Hooves In reply to Atlanta-Hammy [2014-04-22 02:59:41 +0000 UTC]

*sigh* If another artist has a similar opinion, then why can't I use their interpretation to help explain? (I didn't mean for it to back it up, only to explain it much better than I can). The reason they left out chimerism is because it's not canon. The veiwpoint I'm using is one of being canonically accurate to the SHOW, not the comics, or another source.
Sunset isn't explicitly stated to have anything to do with fire, her color scheme is what it is because they're colors of the sunset.
Rainbow is a better flyer because that's her talent; being a fast, skilled flyer, whereas Celestia's talent is raising the SUN, she raises a giant ball of fiery gas every morning, and lowers it in the evening; she does this TWICE every day, and for 1000 years, she had to raise the sun, lower the moon, and then raise the moon, and lower the sun by HERSELF. To my knowledge, no other canon pony (other than Luna) has anywhere near the strength required to do such a task.

Atlanta-Hammy In reply to Winter-Hooves [2014-04-22 03:44:31 +0000 UTC]

Yes, because that shows bias, and Headcanons make a mess of everything, like they have with Alicorns. It's okay to have headcanons but it is not okay to force them onto others just because you don't like the other person's opinion. [This is a in-general saying, i'm not saying you are doing it, I'm just saying that this shouldn't be done] But I understand now that you explain that.

Well it can only be assumed to be fire, or something fire related given her cutie mark is a yellow and red sun 8I

Know, the thing about Celestia raising the sun And Luna Raising the Moon also comes back to Alicorn magic being no different to Unicorn magic since it's her magic is related to her talent, like all the others. People seem to not recognize this?

Aaacctually, if you remember the Christmas special, a group of Unicorn's had to do it themselves, both sun and moon. So it's not like Luna and Celestia are the only two that can do it.

Winter-Hooves In reply to Atlanta-Hammy [2014-04-22 12:20:25 +0000 UTC]

(The unicorn ponies raising the sun/moon thing) Yes, but it's a GROUP of unicorns, and a decent sized one at that.
Unicorn magic isn't the same as alicorn magic Because alicorns also posses earth pony magic. Alicorns are a mix of all three pony species.
(Sunset Shimmer) Ah yes, assumptions. We've never seen her manipulate fire, and the only reason her name was Sunset Shimmer was because Sunset=Twilight and Shimmer=Sparkle.

Atlanta-Hammy In reply to Winter-Hooves [2014-04-22 17:45:33 +0000 UTC]

Still, it remains that Alicorns are no different then Unicorns. Btw about the age you mentioned before, Celestia's age is a mystery, as it's been said Twilight will not out live her friends, so, she's not immortal. Though it could be thought Celestia uses that aging spell mentioned in Magic duel.

You do realize by that logic Unicorn's and Pegasuses are also half earth pony, right?

Again there is NOTHING wrong with having a Alicorn character. It's all a matter of how someone handles it, the race is not a special-snowflake that people head-canon it out to be. Heck even the writers themselves said Alicorn's where only seen in royal roles so far was because they look pretty.

Winter-Hooves In reply to Atlanta-Hammy [2014-04-22 18:15:03 +0000 UTC]

Alicorns are different than unicorns. The wings for one, and the fact that they posses both pegasus and earth pony magic. Unicorns only have unicorn magic.

Atlanta-Hammy In reply to Winter-Hooves [2014-04-22 18:31:00 +0000 UTC]

Wings don't matter! Their style purely aesthetic. If you want to be hung up on them so much, Cadance used to have normal Pegasuses wings. Fact she had both a Normal Pegasuses and body for that matter. TWILIGHT was the only one to start off with different wings. Not to mention she walked around Canterlot and no one blinked an eye. She was treated like a normal pony.

You really need better information to back up your "Alicorns are my special snowflakes and no one should have one!!1!!" argument. I've provided a lot of information that points to them being no different then Unicorn's with wings, FROM CANON, and all you are doing is going on about how their wings purely look different, or the fact that they supposedly have magic from being a combination from all three ponys [which they don't show]

What I am saying is, Canon states Alicorns are not as special as everyone makes them out to be in the fandom! And that I think people honestly need to chill the hell out about them and give ACTUAL help instead of whining and crying "MARY SUE!!! MARY SUE! FUCK YOU DIE! YOU CAN'T HAVE THAT!" [Yes, I've seen this used].

It's okay to have headcanons, but it's not okay to go around and claim them as true and then just repeat the same things over and over again when you're told canon says otherwise, and that the person you're trying to force to make fallow that headcanon prefers to go the canon rout, or a different headcanon for that matter.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Winter-Hooves In reply to Atlanta-Hammy [2014-04-22 21:13:11 +0000 UTC]

The reason she had normal pegasus wings before her transformation was because she WAS a normal pegasus.
"Alicorns are my special snowflakes and no one should have one!!1!!" Really? I never said anything like that, and truthfully, am offended that you think I'm that much of an imbecile that i would claim an entire canon species as my own.

"...they supposedly have magic from being a combination from all three ponys [which they don't show]"-You
"part of a special breed of pony called an Alicorn. This meant that Twilight was now able to harness the magical powers of the unicorns, the flight abilities of the Pegasi, and the strength of a good, true heart of an Earth Pony." Quote from the "Crystal Heart Spell" or whatever, stating that alicorns have the power of all three.

Truthfully, it seems like you're trying to unfairly group me with that rabid "MARY SUE!!! MARY SUE! FUCK YOU DIE! YOU CAN'T HAVE THAT!" group, when I've been civil the whole time. My main thing is that every alicorn in the show that wasn't an animation error has been portrayed as a princess/godlike being, and that to make an alicorn OC that's not a princess doesn't make much sense when you're trying to fit said OC into the canon universe.

Atlanta-Hammy In reply to Winter-Hooves [2014-04-22 21:29:09 +0000 UTC]

Still, it's a silly thing to be hung up on, since the wing design is purely aesthetic. Bigger does not automatically mean better.

I put that because that's what I am constantly seeing summed up in a easier way. I never said YOU said it specifically I'm saying that's what I am ALWAYS seeing.

I was being sarcastic as I've never seen any proof of said earth pony combination, well, the book is never referenced in what I see of alicorns, so this is why i never bring it up, still it ultimately seems redundant, since Earth pony is basically the base of every pony.

Well when ever I encounter someone going on about how alicorn's are automatically mary sues, their normally, that type of person, so, it's a learned from experience thing. I've not said once that you where like these people.

Actually you can if you do enough research. [I'm not taking the "must be royalty" thing as fact since the writers themselves have said that they only put alicorn's in power thus far because they look pretty, so it seems they very much can be used for other things if they choose. Plus it's been stated that Luna and Celestia are not gods] Plus if you're mixing and matching things from past gens...Cause Gen one or was it two or three? and a bunch of alicorns that where not errors and not princesses for toys.

Winter-Hooves In reply to Atlanta-Hammy [2014-04-22 21:36:19 +0000 UTC]

I'm basing my ideas on G4, since the dynamics of princess/prince/alicorns for G4 are way different than those of another Gen. I'm not saying they're gods/goddesses, I'm saying they're godLIKE; with much more power both magically (not saying physically since we've only really seen them in their prim and proper princess-y state) and politically, than any other pony in the G4 realm. They're the rulers of an entire NATION of ponies, so in my eyes, it'd make sense for them to be magically gifted creatures with aspects of all of their other pony subjects.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Atlanta-Hammy In reply to Winter-Hooves [2014-04-22 21:57:51 +0000 UTC]

Gen 4 has some dynamics of passed gens so i don't see what much difference there is, give Gen 1 - 3 was about the same. Which was basically dungeons and Dragons with Ponys.

It seems a bit, I dunno, over Idolizing to say God-like? I don't really, given Unicorn's have also been used to shown to also be in seats of power, and I'm pretty sure there are Earth and Pegasuses ones out there too. So, I don't see the point of over-idolizing Alicorns, as their just the same as the other races, and can be weaker or stronger then another [Ex: Star Swirl was stronger then Celestia and Luna] So, I think it's kinda rude for everyone to be homing in on alicorn's as the cause for Mary sues, when I've honestly seen more Earth, Uni, and Pegi sues then Alicorn, but no one says annnything about them and just focuses on the Alicorn and treat it like a sin.

Plus it's a bit unfair to compare all alicorn's to Celestia and Luna, who've made it hard for any Alicorn to be brought in without someone complaining how those two are not special anymore, or how the new alicorn is "Weak" and shouldn't have their power an so forth.

That and the concept of a Mary sue is Sexist and broken in it's self.

In many ways, How often do you see a male "mary sue" being called out? or seen for that matter?..Not very often i bet.

Mary sue is also often used as a put down, a insult, or a way to shut female writers up, have you noticed how often a canon-female character will often be called a mary sue? [If you've not, let me direct you to here: fyeahcontroversialcharacters.t… You'll notice about 90% of the female Characters will have "Mary sue" stuck to them as a reason why the fandom hates them.]

Mary sue is also often used for "Female Character I don't like" by a person.. Actually it's own Wiki mentions how it's sexist, here are a few helpful links:
Wiki.
A Tumblr post about how it's Sexist.
Urban Dictionary's Post about it.
A Post Explaining it.
They Even did a fallow up.

There is a lot you can find on google just be searching "Is mary sue sexist?"

I've seen heaps of gary stus, it's just than there seem to be more female pony OCs than male, which skews things a bit. In my opinion, what makes a stue/sue is an overly tragic backstory, horrible color scheme, and way to many powers for that given world/fandom.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Atlanta-Hammy In reply to Winter-Hooves [2014-04-22 23:15:50 +0000 UTC]

Thats because Male's are not held to the same stranded as the girls are, therefor, making it sexist, and expecting girls to be below men, and can't do things men do, like be strong, or be rulers, or be mean, or like comic books or like an play video games.

Girl does one thing? She's a sue! Guy does it? He's normal. <- This is Sexist
..So yeah, that's prolly a reason why it's skewed for ya as a whole <:I It's very hard to un-skew too.

Well none of them alone, a bad design is a bad design, not necessarily a sue trait. Cause you can have a neon covered character thats awesome.

Tragic Back story..Eh they exist in real life, so it's more depending on how it's handled.

Way to many powers I can agree on to a extent. Since some races, like Vampires, have a lot of powers.

This is pretty good!  I have to agree with all of it, especially the cutie mark part.  Of course, strange wings is a BIT of a nitpick, since one can always say they were that way as the result of a deformity or something like that.  I actually have a character of my own who is a half-pegasus half-zebra character, but she has bat wings.  Why?  Because her father was one of Luna's night guards.
Other than that, yeah, I completely agree with it all.

Here's a thought.  I started a thingy for OCs that can be found here: equestrianmilitary.tumblr.com/
So far only two characters have been posted, both by me (the blog is still a work in progress), and I know they don't have cutie marks in the pictures but I made those pictures in GeneralZoi's Pony Creator, because I can't draw ponies very well. >_<  As such, I added a thing to each of their descriptions that specifies what their marks are.  Skill Set's is a jack with all four suits on it because he learns quickly, thus allowing him to learn many skills throughout the course of his life instead of mastering only one.
Anyway, to get back to what I was saying, I do plan to add other OCs of my own in the future (started making another yesterday actually), and even have plans for characters from the show, including the Mane 6.  I would like to know what you think about my characters, and if you would be so kind, to help spread the word about my blog, since others can post their own ponies too eventually.  I mainly just want your opinion on my characters though.

My OC, well, she is a Princess, and she is an alicorn, BUT, She doesn't even want to be an alicorn, and is actaully quite afraid of being an alicorn. Her father died and when I say Princess, she's more like a guardian. She protects and watches over spirit's, and once  again she's afraid of being a Princess, because 1. She hates being in the center of attention 2. She's afraid of ponies acussing her of being boastful or 'Bitchy' about her so called Princesshood. She lives in a average house in Canterlot, but often goes to Ponyville to see her friends, Rainbow Dust, Snowy Do and Dolly. She even tried to commit suicide because she's an alicorn. And her cutie mark is a 4 pointed star with a cresent moon behind the star. It represents her interest for the moon and her bouncy personality.

Is my OC a mary sue? Because it used to be WAY WAY worse. She used to be the daughter of Princess Luna, the Princess of the Night, and mary sue-ish stuff like that. Her mother is STILL called Luna (Because I love the name Luna) but she ain't Princess Luna. Just a normal Unicorn. And she became an Alicorn on the day her father died. She also used to have a sister but she died at the age of 8. So, please answer my question!

EarthGal In reply to MoonlightStarsquill [2014-04-14 10:23:52 +0000 UTC]

TL;DR Yes. Your character is a mary sue; making her an alicorn alone is already, like, 10 mary sue points. I'mma break it down for ya.

1. The status of "alicorn" is specifically reserved for princesses in the MLP universe, but you claim she's not a princess. If so, then why is she an alicorn? Why not make her a unicorn? Writing her as an alicorn just comes off as a cheap way to make her seem special without really putting any effort into what actually makes her stand out as a character. It really feels like you wanted to have a princess OC, but wanted to avoid the criticism that comes with having a princess OC. Sorry, but you can't have your cake and eat it, too.

2. I do like the idea of her being a guardian of the spirits. Perhaps she helps lost spirits find their way to the underworld? She could also fight off evil spirits and demons. She could even be a ghost hunter of sorts and calm restless spirits that are wreaking havoc on the living. She doesn't necessarily need to be an alicorn to do that. She could just be a particularly powerful unicorn and it wouldn't totally ruin her backstory like you think it would. Or you could just admit you want a princess OC and keep her as an alicorn.

3. The overly tragic backstory is pretty sue-ish as well; incredibly dark backstories does not make a character good or likable. It just comes off as a desperate and cheap attempt to make people feel sorry for your character. And now we're back to the alicorn thing. How does one's father dying turn one into an alicorn, exactly? Last time I checked, the status of alicorn had to be earned somehow. What did she do exactly that made her alicorn? Because "oh no my father is dead and now I am an alicorn just because" isn't good writting. Did she help her father's spirit when he died? Is that when she had to take up the task of being the guardian of the spirits? Just throwing out ideas here.

4. The whole "I'm a princess but I hate it! Being so special is such a curse!!" reeks of mary sue and it's very overdone. Pro tip: being super duper special isn't really a flaw and speaking of flaws, what are they? Because I don't see any. Is she brutally honest? Has she become cold and distant from her job as a guardian? Is she overly-sensitive? Is she judgmental? Does she chew with her mouth open? Is she deathly afraid of being in crowds? I mean, come on, it's not that hard. And finally...

5. Her cutiemark has nothing to do with her talent/profession. What does liking the moon have to do with being a guardian or protecting spirits? And how is her personality "bouncy", exactly? Does she open right up to people or is she quiet and reserved? Is she easily excited and hyper? Is she fidgety? Is she curious? Does she hate her job or love it? And how does a star and a crescent moon represent a "bouncy personality" anyway?

You don't have a completely terrible OC; she has potential. You could make her a wise, mentor figure, tired and burnt out on having to deal with the hefty task of being the guardian of the spirits. Or maybe she's still relatively new at her job? Maybe it's not the attention she hates, but the incredible burden that's been thrust upon her. I'm not trying to be hurtful here, just giving honest critique that you asked for. Do with it what you will.

.......Woah..That was long. But anyways, thanks for the advice. And you're not being hurtful, you're just telling the truth. I think maybe in one roleplay I do, she loses her wings because of.. Some evil spirit or something and then she's a unicorn. And, just to answer that question about her cutie mark, it doesn't exactly describe her talent, but how it represents her bouncy personality is.. You know that there's those old tales about people turning into wolves at night? Well, wolves (in my point of view) are quite bouncy and lively and well, hyper active. Moonlight's personality is similar, and that's why I put a cresent moon and a star on it. Though, I may change the cresent moon to a full moon, saying that in the stories people turn into wolves on a full moon. Also, liking the moon. She likes the moon because she can connect with spirit's the most, though that is the time she has to do most of her guarding.

Now, with the history. I think I may change the fact her sister died, but I'm not changing her father dying. I'm not changing this purely because it would mess up my role play's too much. I never really thought how she became an alicorn, but the little breif idea you put there would actually be a pretty good backstory. I think that should be the time where she doesn't become and alicorn, but becomes like, a guardian to the spirit's. Anyway, I thank you on your opinion and truth. It helped a lot

Yeah, sorry about the text wall; I got pretty carried away , but I'm glad you found my advice helpful.

The beautiful thing about OCs (especially ones made for roleplay) are that they can be restyled and revamped at any given time. Nothing is ever set in stone for them and events from previous roleplays don't necessarily have to permanently affect your OC. Back when I was roleplaying, I tweaked with my OCs about once or twice a year; characters changed skin tone, abilities, personality, history, distinct markings and sometimes even their race! It all really depends on how much you're willing to change for the sake of a better written, more balanced character. If she's pretty much a unicorn in roleplays, you might as well make her unicorn. I doubt it'd make much difference at all, but if it does make your current RPs a bit weird, you can always start a new one. Or don't. It's entirely up to you. I, personally, having nothing against alicorn OCs. I believe, if done right, they can be wonderful characters to RP with. A lot of people are burnt out on them, though.

I have to say you're reasoning behind her cutiemark is a bit... obscure. They need to be clear and concise in order to be effective. Someone who knows nothing about your character should still be able to tell the meaning of your CM just by looking at it. It's perfectly fine if you want a CM that represents her personality rather than her talent, but not everyone looks at the moon and immediately thinks of a bouncy personality. Think about Princess Luna's CM for instance, when you first saw it, what feelings and words immediately popped into your head? The moon actually has a lot of different connotations depending on how it's used (magic and halloween for instance). You are on the right track, though. If you want people to look at your OC's cutiemark and immediately associate her personality with the wolf, you may want to incorporate a wolf in her CM somehow. Maybe something like these: sta.sh/01dfuxo90ema

Keeping her father's death is perfectly reasonable and, as I've shown, can make for a very good plot device. A little tragedy is fine; too much can get a bit obnoxious and come off as a cry for attention. Keeping the little sister alive also gives you an opportunity for a whole new character, roleplay ideas and even a chance to develop your current OC even further. Think about what kind of relationship they have and work from there. Either way, it's great that you're open to new ideas and I hope you have fun with the ones I've given you. Happy to help!

Um, hey, you seem like a good OC critique with experience, but I was wondering if you can help me with my OC. I don't think he's a Gary Stu, but I might need some help with it.

There should be a separate section on DA for that.

Yes, but it doesn't say you can't. In fact, it doesn't matter whether I do or not. If she doesn't reply she doesn't reply if she does that's great. She doesn't have to answer it jeez...

And, I wasn't necessarily asking HER anyway! I'm asking anyone who can be bothered to read my comment and anyone who knows the answer. Assuming you don't because you're just bitching about me asking :I

Uuuuum, yeah, kinda. Kinda dark how she tried to commit suicide o.o
It wouldn't be as bad if you stressed how she HATES being an Alicorn, yet you still keep her as an Alicorn.

I only keep her an alicorn or else it would f*ck up her history. And roleplay for that matter. Because, she became an alicorn because her father died... And yeah, despite her personality, she is a pretty dark pony. Also, I usually draw her as a Unicorn anyway, because the majority of times anypony sees her she usually hides them with a hiding wing spell (if that even exists lol) anyway... And also, she needs wings in order to fly and see.... uh.. spirits...

The spirits..Why would she need to fly to see spirits? You need WINGS in order to see spirits? Yeah, when Celestia dies, that'll be the truth. Also, how do you become and Alicorn if your dad dies? Guess Granny Smith is and Alicorn. Oh! And basically every old pony in Equestria. Heck, even some fillies. Guess everyone will eventually be an Alicorn. At least by your logic.

............No..........That's not what I'm saying. She helped her father during her death, and that's how she's got wings... jeez, don't be like that. At least the other guy is being logical and truthful about it. Your being truthful and slightly bitchy. Not too bitchy, but a tingle of bitchyness in your comment. I do not appreciate it -_- In fact, I'm not sure whether you have been able to even look at that other dude's replies! I said that my OC will now be a unicorn! JEEZ....

I like this because it actually gives good advice instead of just ripping on people's OC's and specific traits people believe shouldn't be used. I've seen people label everything from simple color schemes to heterochromia as mary-sue. If that was the case, every pony OC out there would be considered "mary-sue" in some form. It's great that you make it more situational, and say that if you can find a logical reason for it, it works
