Thank you for you sweet appreciation and compliments! Goodness, I was so inspried when I made my first quilts, I went nuts sewing each and every day. Last holiday season, this was a gift for a special family member in Michigan! Ron is a John Deere fan and loves to do tractor pulls. I wanted him to have something he would not find in stores.
By the way, it's acceptable to "cheat" and use the sewing machine! Some of the best quilters do. I have a 12-year-old Kenmore machine and bought the quilting feet last year when I started to make these.

If you made that, you deserve a medal. Quilting takes forever -- but it is so wonderful a creation when finished.
Right now, I am cutting old blue jeans into 5 inch squares, and decorating them with fabric paint, or painting them with clorox to bleach out a design, and I will make something out of them.
Probably the first thing I will make is an apron for me to where when I work on my pottery wheel -- the clay gets all over my shirts and it's a mess. You're supposed to wear an apron when you throw, but I never do, because I don't own one. A denim apron should be pretty tough.
I do my quilting by machine, not hand, though. I cheat!
