Nope. I get nothing from them .This is what it's actually supposed to look like IRL.
A note: Yes, I did hand draw this before I inked it digitally, with the full intent of trying to match style as closely as possible (something I only now do by request, since people tend to assume you trace if you do too well at style matching). All the digital art I do starts the same way my traditional art does - pencil and paper. You are INVITED to watch me work on my livestream and at conventions or meetups. I am not shy about my sketchbook at all and will generally let you flip through it if your hands are clean.
If you want an icon/avatar from either of their faces, or if you want to use the costumes in a fanfic or cosplay, just ASK ME FIRST, out of respect to me. If you save a copy, DO NOT EDIT OR REPOST it elsewhere, I will find out. If you cosplay these costumes, I want to see pictures, so hook me up with links!

On to the art notes...
A most bastardly amount of paths, griping, eyestrain, caffiene, insomnia, hand cramps and research went into making what would otherwise just be a "here's a new costume - what colors am I using?" sheet.
Yes, I referenced their poses. I wanted to make sure their heights stayed in proportion to each other and used references that were sized similarly and approximated the same rough proportions as I suspect they would have as adults (and the boobs of a woman who has had a kid, in Sakura's case).
In both costumes, I wanted to change them into something more mature, while keeping elements of both Naruto and Sakura's original and Shippuden costumes. Additionally, I like to think that their respective sensei's have some influence on their personalities and general affect, since that appears to be where the series is heading at times.
Sakura's costume: I'm not 100% satisfied with the upper part. It's missing something on the front and I think it needs some sort of decoration. Maybe I'll add black flames on both sides of the v-neck. What I drew her in in the "Inner Hana" drawing is mostly what I was running on here, except not chibi. The white circles on her overskirt balance out the white cloth underneath, which I wasn't sure I wanted originally, but after twenty attempts to get her damn knee and thighs right I said "the white cloth thing is back in." The belt is deliberately not centered and tapering to accenuate her waist. I like Kabuto's gloves, so she ended up with one of those style gloves.
Naruto's costume (and his hair): His hair is a slightly shorter version of Yondaime's. I just tend to draw Naruto that way anyway: older and with longer hair. The Pimp - er, Hokage cape combines elements of Jiraiya's flame edged, trimmed genin costume with the Fourth's cape (I'm beginning to think Jiraiya was behind the Fourth's cape - yay for presents!), namely the flame patterning on the edges and sleeves, the continuous maroon trim and the addition of "Rokudaime Hokage" on the back (which was a BITCH AND A HALF to do with paths). Why the off white pants? Because regular white and cream would have looked crappy. Also, at this point, it was too dark on his half of the image with the flames on the cape and the dark blue lining. His jacket is a plain black jacket, similiar to the one he's wearing in Shippuden, only sans orange. Ah, the green "seal" rope on his arm with the tag tied on it serves a function in battle and he doesn't have to wear it all the time. I made his black headband ties a bit longer than before.
Now, as to why I put it on the cheesy scroll background and set it up to resemble some sort of missive - EYESTRAIN. THE WHITE BACKGROUND WAS MAKING MY EYES BLEED. Also, I have always wanted to write "Armed and Dangerous" next to them, lol.
I need a fricking TABLET.
EDIT: fixed a minor grammatical error that was annoying me and several shading/misc errors.
So troublesome, you are Mr. Naruto, 6th Hokage.EDIT2: Fixed some more minor shading things and made Sakura's shading a little more contrasty for printing. You won't even notice, probably.

What a gorgeous set of designs. I love how they both look so mature but retain all of their personalities here. You are fabulous at capturing minor details that set tone and mood. I just adore the skill you put into this! Aaahglkjg so good! Sakura's outfit is gorgeous, and I have this headcanon that Naruto is a pretty big, broad guy when he's older, so the way you drew him here works so well. A lot of the time I see him depicted as tall and lanky like a lot of other male anime characters (and a bit like Minato as well), but I get the feeling Naruto is going to be built a bit more like Jiraiya (though not as tall ahaha). It just works, imo. You did a great job here overall, it's just awesomely done. There's so much detail that it's hard for me to focus on any one thing! Love the work you put into the clothing and how it moves and flows so realistically. The way you showed us the backs as well as the fronts is just awesome. Sakura's top seems plain, but she's never been one for dressing in overly complex outfits, so it actually suits her even if you dont' eventually add something.

I have admired these designs for years, but because they are so popular(there is either lot of fanart or people stealing your designs) I have never found these original ones, since due to the abundance of similar designs and the fact that I have seen artists draw Sakuras outfit on Hinata, with the only changes being color and the symbols, I were pretty surprised to finally find the original version.
Sakuras outfit is really great and I could see older Sakura actually wearing something like this. The fisnet and that white cloth actually make the design look less revealing, so it passes as everyday wear, since the bare stomach+cleavadge+short skirt combination would be too much without those aspects. I do always find it weird for people to wear just one glove, but Sakura is fashion conscious enough that I find it excusable in her case. I also like that you didn't give Sakura super long hair, since that's what almost every one gives to older Sakura, but I also like that she has let her hair grow a little, since the spikyness and hair lenght she has in canon looks really messy and doesn't really suit a grown up character well, in my opinion.
I like that you combined Narutos canon style with Yondaimes, since it creates nice continuity to your story and designs and feels plausible. I really like Narutos Hokage cape, since it uses his colorschemes from canon and combines it with Yondaimes cape. I also feel that older Naruto would probably end up toning down the orangeness of his clothes, but since it is his favorite color he would have his coat made in orange. The fact that the rope actually has some function is good, since usually stuff like that is for the sake of coolness and there is no explanation why the character would wear something so complicated/useless.

This is the once piece of Naruto fanart I did that I sometimes wish I hadn't done, on accounts of all the aggravation it's caused me in various ways. And I certainly wasn't the only one who was thinking along these lines when I did it, but I'd made it look as close to canon as anyone could, so instead of disappearing in the tide of Naruto fanarts, I was shocked to discover my inbox exploding practically overnight. From then on, it's been seven years of reporting art thefts, watching cosplay retailers make money off a design I made, and taking delight in finding the artists and cosplayers that found me and said, "Hey, I want to cosplay the Sakura one, how do you make it" or "I love your design, can I use it in my art?"
I'm glad you like it and can really see her in something like this, which was kind of the goal. Her outfit was designed with her personality and physicality in mind. It had to be sporty and fashionable, while also reflecting both her temperament and a level of maturity. More importantly to me, it had to reflect aspects uniquely Sakura (and at the time, Shippuden was literally just starting). I figured that as she grew up, she'd probably change hairstyles and longer hair is more suited for a casual elegance in terms of styling, but not too long as it doesn't suit her fighting style. In terms of construction, I was always thinking of stretch fabrics - Jersey cotton, stretch sport fabric, basically, light, sporty fabrics - for this outfit, with leather for the gloves and boots. She tends to lead with right hand in fights, so the less used hand would probably need a little more armor (I always did like to think that she probably would have a second, shorter glove and if it goes on that's an "oh this just got serious" thing), and the draping white cloth actually conceals the movement of the leg that would put more power into a right-fist lead punch. The "fishnet" also can be switched out with a solid grey tone panel of fabric and covered with stitched on fishnet patterning to simulate Japanese wire-mesh armor - since most cosplayers are not familiar with this armor and fishnet is the go-to for Naruto cosplayers. 
Naruto - I literally didn't know much about the story when I did this (I had been given a rundown on the basic plot, the personalities of major players and a crash course through their official arts to that point and that was it
For both of them, keeping color schemes was really important - it's a part of their character, really.

It must be so fustrating that people just steal your design. I can't believe any cosplay retailer would just steal a fan design and make money out of it, but I have actually seen your Sakura outfit being sold on several of them, so I'm able to believe there actually are jerks who steal other peoples designs to make money. It has been seven years already? I got into Naruto back then, so this design has probably existed the entire time I have been in the fandom.
The outfit is feminine and stylish enough for Sakuras style, since she cares a lot about her looks, but it's also practical enough so she can actually fight in it. You managed to find just the right hair length for Sakura, since often she has either the canon hair lenght or super long hair that's much longer than she had at the begining of the series. I always assume that the ninja on duty clothes are made of sports fabrics, since they would sweat lot and need fabrics that breathe, but also ones that actually allow full range of movement, so that the clothes don't hinder them in fights. Which is why I always found Kibas leather jacket to not fit in the series, since it would limit arm movement and get really hot really quick, though maybe it just looks like leather jacket and is made of more practical fabric in the series. Your idea with the gloves makes sense and explains the asymmetric design. I didn't even think of the fabric concealing her leg movements (probably because I'm not into martial arts or even sports) but that also makes sense. Long skirts actually tend to allow more movement than shorter ones in my experience, bicycling is super easy in my long summer dresses, but some of the shorter skirts I have are so tight fitting that they don't allow me to sit on the saddle at all or move my legs enough to actually make the bike move (I don't know what the "pedals" are in English). The fact that the skirt is only on one side gives even larger range of movement, since there is no fabric resistance on the opposite side. I did think it was fishnet until that episode in Shippuuden where Jiraya pulls his up to show the scar and the shirt clinks metallicly, at which point I realised it was meant to be chainmail and the whole abundance made more sense, it's just that chainmail and wire-mesh feel really awkward to write so I just use fisnets as short hand for it, and lot of fans talk about them as such so I never know if the other fan has also noticed the metallic sound or just thinks of it as fishnet. Shorts are nessecary with all short skirts, especially cosplay, since some one will probably take your picture at the wrong time and it will end up on web, so you don't want to accidentally show everything.
Everybody kind of quessed the Yondaime being Narutos dad, I think that theory has existed since people first saw what Yondaime looked like, far before we knew much of anything about him. I do like the idea you have with the whole master and student having similar flame patterned robes and all, it makes total sense that Jiraya was the one to start the trend. I really like that you didn't give Naruto as much orange as the older designs for him usually use, since it's just impossible to make to look mature and a person who others take seriously, which grown up Hokage Naruto should look like. I really like the neutral colors you used for the shirt/jacket and pants, since I have probably seen one other design for older Naruto that actually managed the grown up but still Naruto like look, with dull neutral clothes and orange cloack (I like your design better, since the other design went too dull and too traditionally Japanese with the design). Carrying seals, especially storage seals for weapons, makes so much sense that I'm actually surprised how rarely it's used in canon and among ocs, like the only active user of storage seals I can recall is Ten Ten and Sasuke in that fight agains Itachi, but other than that they are almost completely ignored in canon.
Naruto has really consistent colorschemes so it's good to keep them, though I think people could use the colors from some of the childhood/anime-filler outfits as well, just for the sake of variety and to give the story some feel that the characters do own more clothes than what we see (I refuse to believe they always wear the same clothes, it's just a shorthand used in the manga/anime to save some time/money and to make all costume changes significant).
I like to make really long comments. I actually once managed to write a note here on deviantart that was too long and actually jammed DA on my computer, so I had to close the internet and try again. I pretty much had to rewrite it from the begining and I were conscious of there actually being a limit to the lenght after that.

Yeah, I try to keep track of it and of the various cosplayers, but it's kinda hard. There's a lot out there, particularly for the Naruto half. The Sakura half, less so.
At the time, it'd always been sort of bashed around that Naruto was Minato/the 4th Hokage's son as a theory and I was one of a few people that rolled with it and decided to go with the orange and black flame cloak. But most people were going with something a little more like Jiraiya's collarless longsleeve cloak, which I thought didn't fit Naruto as well and then I went more along the lines of Minato's coat being a spiritual successor to Jiraiya's already, so Naruto's would be sort of the next in the chain, theme-wise and incorporate elements of both. Then I tied in the color palette and something I thought befit a Naruto that's grown up. And I honestly thought no one would care about this picture, that it'd get lost in the deluge of Naruto fanart that was flooding the site at the time.

Believe me, I know. I could not wrap my mind around it. And still can't, really.
For me, it was as simple as "hey, titular orphan character looks almost exactly like the dead hero who sealed the Kyuubi in him - what are the odds they'll turn out to be related?" ...which is actually pretty common in heroic tales all over the world for a young hero to discover he or she has ties to a larger heroic or royal parentage or lineage.
:V Basically, if you know a fair bit about metamyths, it was about as obvious as show pony standing in the middle of a room full of cats.

i really like it they do look so mature and i think sakura's top looks fine the clothes look incredible and suites their character fine you did a great job!also why dont you do sasuke ? i think you could me it like narutos cloak or whatever that is but i thought you could do it with the uchiha symbol and put some armour on his left shoulder or idk

I actually did end up doing a Sasuke for the same story behind this image that I had planned - you can find it in the Naruto folder in my gallery. That's actually one of the reasons I want to re-do this one, so it's a little less static and includes him.
