Interesting comment about Adrien's childhood. I feel like that "Toddlers in Tiara" dynamic is probably a fairly recent development. Given the affection he shows his mother's memory and the awkwardness around his father, Emilie and Gabriel probably had two very different parenting styles... Emilie letting him be more of a regular kid while reeling in Gabriel's well-meaning but somewhat controlling approach. Adrien wouldn't buck so hard against Gabriel's attempts at control if that was all he knew.
I would wager that up until his mother's sudden... um... disappearance... Adrien probably had a happy and carefree childhood, if somewhat sheltered and relentlessly pampered. But whatever happened to Emilie unhinged Gabriel severely, and all of his worst tendencies took over.
All you need to know about Gabriel's attitude towards Adrien is that whole wall in his office plastered with photos and pictures of his son. And not casual family photos, either--they're mostly from photo shoots and advertisements. I get the impression that between isolating Adrien in private while carefully choreographing his public image, it's almost as if Gabriel is using his son as a substitute for his wife... and yes, I realize how kinky that sounds.
