when i started minecraft i had no idea how to work redstonei didnt even wanna know
but when i found out they will add pistons (movable blocks) in the next update, i decided i would learn
so this is everything that redstone works with
doors, pressure plates, minecart rails, note blocks (they play music), dispensers (its the little black/grey block with a hole in it, its purpose is to shoot things at you, like a gun but there are a million uses for it) and the deadly TNT block that we all love
i will be posting pix of every redstone thing i learn about
redstone is minecraft's form of wire/electricity
it can be confusing i know, but u will learn it in no time

from left to right starting in the back
IRON door (it is lockable) / wooden trap door (soon i hope they make an iron so its lockable) / the redstone repeater (your best friend when making redstone stuff) / the dispenser (shoots blocks out) / the button (its on a wood block so u can see it better) / the note block (it is the block with the designs on it, depending on the type of block its on, it is a different instrument) / wood door (dont use this to lock anything, its not lockable) / TNT (explodes in a minimum of three blocks in every direction, maximum is 6, but it normally is 4, beware! can destroy lots of stuff and kill)
front row
the iron minecart rails(changes the direction in which you wanna go) / the redstone torch (it is the on/off switch) / the gold rails (minecart boosters, you will need these, can only work when powered, hence the torch next to them)
the two plus signs: top one is the stone pressure plate (great for doors, if you throw a block on this it will not work)
i used wood blocks under it so you could see the actual block
the bottom one is a wooden pressure plate (it works for everything, you can throw a block on it and it will turn on)
