Description
The Tiffany lamp leaned closer to the standing lamp as he reclined back with a cigar. She had had rather more champagne than the others at lunch and was feeling very convivial. The same could not be said of the Chinese latern. He was distincly uncomfortable with caddish behaviour of the Art Deco lamp whose company he was forced to endure. He would have much prefered to be seated next to the nice floral lamp who was sitting primly across the room. The aged Victorian lampshade was admonishing the young desk lamp. Behind the group butler, a former banker, and maid began to serve the afternoon tea.

All these lamps are based on real historical examples. It was fun hunting down all the references for this. A3 done in various pencil grades.
This is a reworking of an old idea here .
DD Edit: Surprise of the day, scrolling through day's DDs and saw this featured there. I never thought I'd get a DD on the day the picture was submitted. Massive thanks to ^deshrubber for the feature. I've only recently gotten back into the swing of drawing in the last couple of months.

I never thought of shipping any except the Tiffany lamp and the standing lamp in the armchair until I wrote the description. I honestly threw it together as a way of drawing the attention across the room to the next lot of figures.
Your is the most interesting comment I've seen so far.

Good entertaining descriptions are getting harder to come by these days. It's a shame.

This is such a weird and wonderful idea!
Great tones and a myriad of fun details in there. Even the people in the paintings and the statuette have lamp heads! I applaud your imagination.

I'm very glad you picked up on the paintings and that the details show up okay in this picture. I'm tempted to do one of the naked classical lamps at some point.

I wouldn't be me if I didn't pick up on the odd and small details. (says the detail freak herself)

What an original idea and I love the details on the period clothing for all of the lamps! LOL--the art on the wall! Congratulations on your DD!

Thanks, I'm glad you picked up on the wall art. I was a bit worried that a couple of the pieces would be too hard to make out.

This is a very original drawing. I like surrealistic art. It kinda reminds me a little bit of Magritte. Instead of using apples you used lamps which is way cooler.

Magritte was definitely an inspiration for the original picture. I do like surreal art because it challenges perspectives and can be so creative.
