Built sometime in the 1970's, Rolf was constructed somewhere in France by a manufacturing company named Ateliers de Construction du Nord de la France as a test engine along with two other B-units to allow him to haul a train of a hundred cars. Built with a special tender that contained hot and cold air that helped start up his motor and get him running, however engines built by state-owned companies were not pleased with the construction of Rolf and threatened to destroy him, the company managing to hide him away for a good amount of time in a hidden shed and under a series of cloths. It wouldn't be until 2013 until Sir Topham Hatt had managed to secretly win Rolf in a poker game with the current owner of Construction du Nord and ended up winning the facility Rolf was hidden in, getting the prototype engine in the process, it would be months later until Bertram found Rolf still under the bedsheets and had some men pull them off of him and found the engine and his blueprints. Rolf was hauled along with the one hundred carriages that went with him, having him restored and tested for running, Rolf would haul his train around Sodor, shocking a ton of people as he races around the entire island, even outrunning Gordon as his massive train managed to get all the way to Knapford. The engine is still in the testing phase and has been recently helping International Railways with their trains, managing to shock people everywhere.
