I dunno, I felt that the clouds were a little overpowering too. An atmosphere would probably block a bit of the clouds, wouldn't it?

Not bad! I don't think the cloud overpower it; they actually add a focal point since the entire thing is dark.
If there's one thing I can add, maybe make the purple in the space area a little more visible? It'd be cooler to look at than black lol.
