Even though he holds the legitimate office of the Federal Presidency, Mortac's side of the Commonwealth Civil War is seen by many as illegitimate due to his assassination of former Federal President Riklen. Even though Mortac controls most of the interstellar navy, they are slowly losing territory on several worlds, and are losing ground to the Rational Commonwealth, Foundational Unity Movement, and Unified Front.
