Description
The remnants of mankind, flung far from home in an apocalyptic catastrophe, the Interstellar Soviet maintains the last known inhabited worlds of the human species. After a brutal nine hundred year period of warfare, restructuring, recommunicating, and rebuilding, the Interstellar Soviet's Congress of Worlds emerged as a formal institution to govern the fledgling worlds of a hostile universe. Alongside the Congress of Worlds is Star Fleet, an extremely powerful and nearly independent fleet of ships dedicated to the teachings of Communism and peacekeeping, resulting in a gentlemanly code of conduct among its many crews. On the ground is The Procuratorate, half detective agency, half militia, half intelligence agency dedicated to rooting out the enemies of the people, and actually doing a respectable and good job at it. However despite these forces, danger and hostility remains in the stars, as dangerous worlds, piracy, and the fears and ambitions of powerful individuals maintain a constant vigilance among those who call the Soviet home.

Based on Mattystereo's excellent "Not Quite Good Enough" sci-fi setting, a great world building project using Communist ideology, hostile alien worlds, and the politics of running multiple planetary systems to craft a tale of survival and intrigue at the edge of space. Highly recommend, in fact, since it's still relatively small, here's the whole series!
