As a kid I loved the huge industrial powers lines that followed the highway. My childhood was spent between my parents and grandparents home separated by 20 mile long stretch of highway. 2 things captured me about this. One was the awesome train line that paralleled the highway; the second were the powers lines that cris-crossed it. I wondered how much wire was needed to connect every single house to the power grid. I live in Florida, the lightning capital of the world (think), and victim of hurricanes. Power outages come and go, and I always think how huge the grid must be.
I looked up images on blue prints and power plans and started this by having a paint center point to draw in the viewer, then add as much detail as I can as the lines expand out from the center point. I love this because essentially the details never end; until now.
