Hahahenjoy. I am not funny, and I realize that, but my pathetic attempts to do so lie within the tutorial.Another tutorial done in Flash. Mwah. People seem to like those.

Well, actually, mine is a small Canadian Running Dragon, which means she can run as fast as she can fly. Other dragons can't do that due to their size, but this subspecie can. But, they don't have the same strenght as the European Flying Dragons, and their fire is not as powerful as theirs. What is cool is that Canadian Running Dragons have colorful coats with no scales that basicly say "I won't even try to hide from you, predators, I'm way too fast BITCH". Yup, I love my fursona ^^

Er, it isn't really my place to give a suggestion, but a good way to determine what animal to use is not by how 'nice' or 'kind' or 'preppy' the stereotypes say it is, but to match up your personality with the instincts/habits the species exhibits in the wild. For example, if your really social, an animal that lives in packs/herds/clans/prides/etc. is a better choice. (Examples: Lions, wolves/canines, elephants) If your antisocial, then an animal that lives solitarily is a better choice. (Examples: Bears, lizards, snakes, wildcats, housecats.)
xD Like I said, it's not entirely my place to be giving my opinion. I already have a wonderful fursona, but if I didn't, and I was looking for one, I'd definitially use your guide. I'm going to recommend it to my friends!

Thanks so much for the ideas and the kind words! For sure, I think people should go with an animal that fits their personality. It's just a reminder that there are a lot of animals out there who have unique traits, and cats/wolves/foxes aren't the end-all!

Great advice, very helpful. Still deciding on my fursona (it was a sea dragon but I thought "SCREW THAT" and it may now be a cross between a cat and a sea horse).

One thing important to me: always choose your most favourite animals to design from.

for sure. if you don't enjoy drawing the animal, you'll be sick of your fursona in no time.

Not to forget to mention markings. Lawdy, how many times I've seen characters with complicated designs. I'm thinking "Jesus Christ, how can you remember your character's design?!"

This is actually very nice. I love how you're encouraging people to break away from commons and cliches in their fursonas. Heh.. I was guilty of making a dragon fursona. She's an OC now, though.
This really makes me want to start working on my spider 'sona, since I doubt anyone's ever done a spider as their fursona. Most people hate them, after all.
