HISTORY
Kit || [tw for illness, death.]

Ivy was a single mother with a rather large litter of kits. Well, too large to watch on her own, anyway. She was already struggling to find food on her own, but with four extra mouths to feed, it was four times harder. She found her kits to be burdens. Especially when two of these kits happened to be sickly and small, runts. Though they'd try to keep up with their mother, they struggled, and it only made Ivy incredibly frustrated. Juniper wasn't one of these kits. She was healthy. But she couldn't help but feel incredibly protective of the two younger kits. She'd encourage them to go on just a little further.

Ivy wasn't a sympathetic creature. Though she didn't exactly want harm to come to the kits, she didn't see them as hers. They weren't something to take care of, to love. They were more mouths to feed, small and whiny.

She often got upset with Ivy. Ivy would be upset with Juniper for talking back at her. This caused Juniper to grow more grim, refusing to show her mother any sort of weakness.

One of the two sickly kits couldn't get up one day. The other one was breathing harshly. Ivy looked between them and the path they were meant to be taking. Then, she got up, and told the two healthy kits to follow. Juniper was quick to remind Ivy of the two sickly kits who couldn't follow, but she just kept moving. Looking over her shoulder, she told Juniper she was free to stay there with them. One less mouth to feed.

She was furious. But she did take her up on her offer. She stayed with her sickly siblings as she watched Ivy leave with only one kit left. Juniper would try and find food for the three of them, as well as anything that'd help their coughs and sniffles. But everything was scarce. With what little food she could properly find, it hardly felt like enough. It wasn't.

It only took days to pass by before the two's symptoms grew worse. Juniper could only lay there with them, at the very spot their mother abandoned them, and comfort them. They weren't even coherent anymore.

Then one morning, she woke up, and they were no longer breathing. Juniper simply watched over them with a shadow of dread looming upon her face, breathing growing short and frantic, wondering why it had to be them. She didn't even think about going to find more food or shelter. She just simply laid there, shock choking her.

Juniper was eventually found by a group of bunnies and taken into their warren. She didn't wake up until a day later, in an entirely new place with new smells and sights. No siblings to be seen. When older bunnies attempted to ask for her name, she refused to answer, remaining quiet. When they asked what happened, she did nothing but sit there. She didn't trust them.

Sharing worried expressions, they said they would call her Juniper when addressing her. She felt herself tense up.

She's never had a name before.
