I woke up and smiled. I had a good feeling about today. When I went downstairs my mom greeted me. She walked over to me. She said hello and told me that Ethan was playing hide-and-seek with his marill. Wasn't a surprise. Then, she said something that made me wonder. Professer Elm wanted me. He had a favor. After that mom gave me my things and I headed out. Once I got outside a marill ran into me. It was Ethan's marill. I smiled and then Ethan spotted it and his marill ran over to him.
After that I started going towards the lab. But then I noticed someone, a red haired boy, peering into the window. I walked over to him and asked what he was doing. "This is the famous Elm lab... What are you staring at?" he asked and then he pushed me away from him. I sighed. I wonder what he's up to. What he said was strange. I thought. I shook the thought from my mind before waslking into the Pokemon Lab. Professer Elm greeted me with a smile when he saw me. "Hello Emily. I've been waiting. Do you know anything about my research? As, you know pokemon are carried by pokeballs, but before pokeballs were made people walked with pokemon like Ethan does with his marill. Walking with pokemon must have an advantage," he started. "So I'm going to give you a pokemon!" When I heard that I was filled with happiness. I was finally going to get my first pokemon. A smile crept across my face.
"Can you walk beside this pokemon outside of it's pokeball to see if it has effect, like special bonds?" he asked. I nodded in joy. Then, I heard a noise from his computer. "Hey, listen. I have a friend called Mr. Pokemon. He keeps finding wierd things. I just got a email and this time it's real. Probably another egg but we're busy. Wait! You can get it for us can't you?" I nodded. Then, he walked over to the machine thhat had three pokeballs in it. Professer Elm picked them up. Then
"You have three choinces. There's the fire type cyndaquil," he stated before sending out a cyndaquil. The flame on its back ignited. It looked cute but I wanted to see the other options. "Next is the grass type, chikorita," he replied before sending out a pokemon with a leaf on its head. The pokemon looked at me for a few before looking away with a snobby look. Well, that one's sassy. I thought before rolling my eyes. "Finally, is the water type totidile," he said. Then, he sent out the pokemon. It looked cool. The totidle looked at me with determination. It looks like it'll be a good fighter. The chikorita is very sassy so I don't know if it'll want to obey me and the cyndaquil, I don't even know. I said to myself. I looked over my choices. Then, I looked at the totidile. It had that look of determination that I could push away. "I choose the totidile!" I declared with a grin.
"Totidile!" cheered the totidile. It walked over to me and I picked it up. "Do you want to nickname him?" asked Professer Elm. I looked at my new totidile and a name popped into my head. "I'm naming you Gaterade!" I proclaimed. Gaterade grinned. I could tell he liked the name and then I set him down.
"Mr. Pokemon is just a bit past Cherrygrove," replied Professer Elm. "Good luck Emily." I nodded and thanked him. Then, I started for the door. On my way I was stopped by one of the helpers. He gave me some potions. I knew these would be essential, especially with how cruel this place could be. When I went outside Ethan commented on Gaterade and the he left. I walked into my house to see my mom. "Oh! Hi Emily! That pokemon you have is cute," she started. Then, I told her about the task I was assigned. "That's That sounds a little difficult But when seomone makes that kid of request it's important. Oh yeah! Your pokegear came back from the repair shop!" Don't even make me remember how I broke it. I sighed. The pokegear just had to fall out of my pocket when I slid trying to dodge Ethan and his marill playing hide-and-seek. The water gun didn't help at all. "Thanks mom. I'll try to be careful with it on my trip," I told her. She nodded in approval and then she sent me off. I opened the door and waved goodbye to my mom, Gaterade behind me. When I got outside I looked around and the breeze blew through my hair. I began walking towards the first route. But then I heard a voice. "Wait one second!" they called. I recognized the voice and saw prfesser Elm run over to me.
"Let me give you my number," he said. I put his number in my pokegear. "Call me if need to." he stated before leaving. I nodded and looked at the route ahead of me. An exciting adventure was ahead of me and I knew it. I turned to Gaterade and said his name. He looked at me confused. I guess he's not used to his name yet. I thought.
