Description
I spotted this wheel loader while driving around this evening. I've always been interested in heavy machinery. Diesel power.Handheld HDR, 7 shots; -3...+3 EV.

I dig that grungy feel these HDR shots of construction equipment always seem to have.

it reminds me of some game (C&C somethin'). It looks sci-fi.

I'm impressed with the handheld value, did it require much work to stitch together without blurring or were you able to just plug the pictures into a generator? Definitely want to try my hand at some HDR after exams

Thanks.
I was shooting in high speed continuous mode while autobracketing in aperture priority from -3 to +3 EV.
Then just put all 7 raw's into generator and wait for it to pop out the result.
So pretty much not more to do than pressing the shutter release...
Definitely a techinque worth to try at least.

Have often wondered how to achieve 3, 5 or 7 shots hand-held like this - didn't think to use continuous mode DOH!!
Can't wait to get out & give it a try...
Thanks.
PS Awesome shot

That's the key. Fastest possible continuos mode. I usually have around 3-5 frames per second. You can keep the camera steady for about two seconds to capture the 7-9 exposures. For example the Photomatix can correct slight camera shake.
Try it and enjoy it.
And thank you.

Thanks for the reply.
Took the camera out for a walk this afternoon. Mine only allows me to take 3 shots, whether they're 1 stop under/over or .5 stop under/over, so I think I'll only be able to take 3 shot HDR's unless I take the tripod out with me.
Have also tried a few different HDR packages and Photomatix comes out top every time.
Thanks for your reply.

Right.
For just having three exposures for a single HDR I'd recommend to have them as -2, 0 and +2 EV values. Then it'll have enough dynamic range.
If I want to make it real artsy fartsy I use a tripod, a cable release and I take 9 shots from -4 to +4 at 1 EV intervals.
One good tip for you (and for all): The most common mistake when taking the individual exposures for the HDR image is the fact that you stop too soon. I mean that the over exposed shots should be A LOT over exposed. A good rule of thumb as when to stop shooting the high end: when the histogram left side is in the middle of the range. I mean that the histogram 'mountain shape' left side should be in the center of the horizontal axis.
That's a pro photographer tip from Michael Freeman.
