Gold ink pen on black paper. took about 3 hours to draw.photoshop effects took 1 hour.

I'm not even going to ASK about the details... they are insane... they make my head go explode and my heart beat in enttirely new ways because I absolutely ADORE insane amounts of detail. Most probably because I can't do them on my own drawings...
What I AM going to mention about this drawing is the materials. Could we catch a glimpse of the unPhotoshopped version, just because I'd like to see exactly how gold pen looks on black paper. I loooove love love black paper drawings and I'd mostly always do them in colored pencils O.O' Somehow I never thought of using a colored pen!
Did you have to sketch this first or did it just come out at the first try?

Michael. The Archangel. The one to best the Devil himself in combat. He stands here, contemplating who he is. A servant? A warrior? A hero? The answers alude him and he is left alone, in the darkness, with his only light being the one that he himself casts.
This piece is amazing. Maybe it's due to the gold against the black background, but it looks quite radiant. I enjoy this piece quite a bit. I especially am liking the sword, but the design looks somewhat familiar... Maybe it's just my imagination.

Brilliant! The detail on this is so crazy it almost gives me seizures. Did you sketch it in pencil first and then trace over it with pen, or did you just get everything absolutely perfect on the first try because you're amazing?
