SMG1: “Alright, let’s get to the meat of the matter: you chose Mario for your attempt to pass on your… er, uncanniness. SMG4 explained Mario’s Avatar status on the way here, correct?”

Mr. Incredible: “He admitted to being a novice but yes, he said Mario’s death would destroy the universe and mentioned it had something to do with meme energy distribution.”

SMG1: “Good, very good. So you have context for why this is a concern to us. Now, 4 relayed to me that you didn’t simply pick Mario on a whim, but were compelled by something. Please, elaborate on this.”

Mr. Incredible: “Well, it was about the height of my torment over these ‘uncanny’ memes when I had a strange dream. I was in a void of darkness, accompanied only by a red light, and from the light a feminine voice spoke to me, telling me that in order to end my suffering, I must build a machine to pass the curse on and trap Mario in it. In hindsight, it should have been obvious the vision was malevolent, but I gave in to desperation and followed its word.”

SMG1: “I see, hmm… a red light in a dark void. This sounds… concerningly similar to a certain major threat we dealt with recently.”

SMG2: “Wh-what’s that? Are you saying Zero might be back?”

SMG1: “Well, not necessarily back, but possibly related to whatever sent the vision- capturing Mario WAS the crux of his plot, after all.”

Mr. Incredible: “Should I know who this Zero guy is?”

SMG1: “Er, not really, but… I think you’ll end up learning it all. You see, I believe that whatever this entity that provoked you to kidnap Mario is, it’s influence goes beyond talking to you in your dreams. Memes have behaviors and conditions that embody their joke, but they usually lack self-awareness. This evidently changed for you shortly before the dream, with no explanation for what triggered it other than contact with the entity. As subtle as it may be, with the prospect of Zero’s involvement in mind, I fear that this may be the first sign of some sort of corruption. We will have to keep you around and monitor your condition until we can get to the bottom of this.”

Mr. Incredible: (sigh) “I understand. But, realize that regardless of all this meme magic stuff, I AM first and foremost a superhero. I just don’t want this to become too much of an obstruction to my duty, if it can be helped.”

SMG2: “Don’t worry about that! We meme guardians are basically superheroes too! We’re some of the best people to have at your side in this kind of situation!”

I envisioned the room being quite a bit deeper behind the SMGs, but I had no idea what to put in the space between them and the wall, so I just brought the wall closer and put a couple details behind them. Now it looks like a rehash of the Christmas drawing from my DeceMF event a few years ago. I really should practice drawing backgrounds; interiors; environments in general, huh?

Also first look at my revised take on SMG1&2, where instead of being a dividual with little personality, 1 takes charge in meme guardian activity with his leadership skills and technical know-how while 2 is more a comic relief sidekick than anything.
