“This isn’t worth my time nor are you. Get out of my sight!” She hissed out, ears furling back as the rook ran off with a bundle in his hands.
`Zaria pulled her head back, looking down from her place on the giant smooth rock on the small loaf of rooks and doves alike, all looking up at her. Within their hands were gifts, bundles of food, anything they believed would please the picky chimeric dove. Anyone who approached the scene might be wondering why there was such a build up of kukuri gathered around this one chimera, but if you knew anything about the area it was that Zaria was queen. Not the literal queen of course, but she was the owner of the territory, a vast area full of food, water and shelter. It was practically the perfect place to be and to live at, but it came with a price. To live there, one had to please the territory’s owner, the dove known as Zaria. The dove had the temperament of a snake with the vanity of a peacock but the bite of a prairie. She was a force to be reckoned with and you were lucky enough if she let you live on her territory. You must have had pleased the gods especially if she chose you to be her temporary mate.
`Myrtille was a bundle of sunshine, he was optimistic things would always go his way and everyone was a potential friend to him, even grumpy, dangerous doves like Zaria. Within his hands, he carried nothing which earned him the looks of disapproval from many, and the looks of pity from some. Whispers were around him saying he was going to be chased off with a bite to his leg but they didn’t know his secret weapon: himself. Who could refuse a lovable, cheerful rook with an eager to please attitude? Certainly not grumpy doves. As the cluster of kukuri moved, Myrtille bounded on ahead, a hop to his step, to the front. Already he could feel the dove’s glare boring down on him but he didn’t mind.
“I’ve see you’ve brought me nothing yet you have the audacity to come before my face and ask to let you live on my territory?” Zaria bellowed out, her voice demanding.
`Myrtille’s ears furled back at the sheer loudness of the dove’s voice more than anything before his ears perked back up. Sticking up a hand and finger, he motioned for her to pause.
“I have actually brought something miss Zaria!” He piped up before extending his hands wide “Myself!”
`Zaria’s eyes widened slightly before they narrowed to peer closely at the rook. A small look of curiosity emerged in her eyes as she let out a series of chuckles from her mouth.
“Confident aren’t we? Now why should I accept...you? Hmm?” She questioned, tilting her head at him as she slunk off her rock.
`With a soft ‘thump’ she landed on the ground and stood several feet from him. Approaching the raven rook with movements that could only be described as a wolf examining their prey, she soon stopped and held herself up. Myrtille gave her an easy-going grin as he held himself up a bit more.
“Why, because i’m me! Everyone loves me! I’ll keep you warm at night with my soft tail and we can enjoy food together and watch the stars at night…” He began as if counting off a list of reasons why.
`Zaria chuckles became laughs at the rook’s confidence. It certainly wasn’t an approach she hadn’t seen before but something in Myrtille gave him an almost childish quality.
“Those are good points but what makes you special from the others?” She asked, voice adopting a smoothness to it as she walked slowly around Myrtille.
`Voices and whispers began to be heard from the crowd again, some sounding upset, others in awe. They hadn’t expected this rook out of all of them to be appealing to Zaria with nothing and words.
`As if expecting her question, Myrtille gave her a small confident look.
“Because I think this day is going to end good. For the both of us and I’ll prove it! You’ll see, we’ll be friends and have a good time~!” He gave her a cheeky grin as he grabbed her by the hand and began to drag her towards a small hidden group of rabbits not too far from them.
`Zaria’s eyes widened as gasps were heard behind her. Was this rook really doing this? Grabbing her and pulling her along in her own territory? The audacity! And yet she followed after him as she pulled her hand away. His eyes glanced to make sure she was following behind he let out a big grin at her and sped towards the rabbits. Zaria returned with an awkward crooked smile as she followed behind tentatively. Already this rook was proving that he was different than the others she met, way different. His approach was certainly a bit eccentric but it was effective if she was following behind him.
`The crowd merely turned within on each other, looking at the couple ahead of them in confusion and curiosity as the dove they had been aiming to impress had ran off with another. Some even swore they heard laughter that resembled Zaria’s voice too. Whatever was true, one thing is known for certain and that was that Myrtille stayed true to his words. Zaria swore she never had more of a fun pleasant time than the one spent with the cheerful rook, Myrtille.
