“Ho there!” A voice called out from the distance as Lorriane’s once perked up ears were now flat.

She finally had a rare much deserved break after an excursion earlier in the day with her handler. Now that her handler was asleep with company at home, Lorriane could finally go out and have time for herself despite her relative enjoyment of her handler’s company. Now someone just had to go out and ruin it. The mist-colored dove stopped at the edge of trees, all around her was nothing but green grass separated by concrete paths for bikes, walkers and other sorts of people, not to mention the black sticks of lamp posts that were seen everywhere. She waited for the voice’s owner to catch up as she looked in the direction the voice came from.

A maple-syrup colored rook walked up to her, his drooping ears flopping up and down with each step. The dove stared at him with unamusement in her eyes as the rook held a smile on his face.

“Good day my good dove.” He greeted casually, giving Lorriane a dip of his head.

She peered at him with a composed look, her body language hidden, neutral. She read his body language, open and prideful yet humble at the same time. He was definitely well kept, not a wild for sure, his appearance didn’t suit a wild not to mention a wild kukuri wouldn’t last long in the city.

“What do you require from me? Make it quick, time is against me.” She replied flatly, her ears remaining flat.

Raja raised his head, as he tilted it to stare at the dove. Time against her? Considering she was often seen stuck to a human, she was probably referring to that.

“Nothing nothing, nothing much. Just your company in this remaining time.” He suggested, voice smooth as butter as he extended a hand forward.

Lorriane stared at him with the same unamused look as the rook basically for her hand in a date. She didn’t understand the rook’s behavior currently, but perhaps it was due to her training kicking in to block the distraction at hand and remain focused. She watched as the rook moved around her, his tail swishing up and down in a manner similar to a cat’s.

“Come on Lorriane, I’m begging on my feet-“ He began to smoothly sing as the dove’s ears perked up.

He was singing to her now? She had seen males often serenading females on television when watching with her handler but she hadn’t imagined it happening to her. The dove shifted her posture, eyes softening as the rook continued to serenade her while others around them began to stop and stare at the pair.

“I cannot believe you are doing this.” She murmured out as Raja’s voice trailed out, his eyes boring into her before they closed in an amused expression.

“Why of course. If a rook has his heart stolen by a dove, it is only natural to pursue her, no?” He mused gently as he continued to sing.

Slowly and slowly, the circle he had been forming around her grew smaller as smaller as Lorriane’s gaze began to soften. She was still in disbelief that he would do this in public, to her out of all doves. He just had to choose boring ol’ hard-working Lorriane. Her eyes widened ever so slightly as she found herself staring at his eyes, the rook’s forehead touching her as he kept the last note to his song with it soon fading. Raja gave the still dove a small lick on the side of her cheek, a chaste kiss.

“So...what do you say?” He murmured softly “Will you give me me a chance...my lady?”

The dove looked away, debating it silently. She had wanted to earn the most of her free time but she had no real plan other than simply walking around the park and enjoying the scenery. Something in the rook’s gaze however, told her she would get her wish and more. With a deep breath inwards, she gave a curt nod.

“Opportunity granted. Do not make me regret this.” She said flatly, a tone of subtle playfulness lacing the edge of her voice.

“You shan’t my lady, a gentleman such as I, knows how to keep a good time. I am friends with Lady Fortuna and Lord Chronos you see.” He mused, his eyes opening to twinkle at her as she nudged him forward with her head, causing the rook to stumble forward as she looked at him with a tilted expression.

“We shall see…”
