Description

  Xavier had been traveling with his brother Iggy, away from the home they once knew. Mainly due to the two not being wanted anymore. The other kukuri had chased the two out, saying they merely took up resources on their own territory yet couldn't even protect it, not to mention they were a threat to the others' supply to lovely doves. Xavier rather than fight he knew he'd lose, fled their old territory with his brother. They had been walking for days, not knowing where'd they belong and it wasn't long before the trees began to grow thicker and more exotic. Xavier didn't know where they were getting themselves into but it wasn't familiar territory, meaning it most likely didn't belong to anyone. The two settled down for the night in a makeshift nest of giant leaves.

"Good night Xav..." Iggy murmured as his eyes closed.

  Xavier peered over Iggy before looking around him. Hopefully this place really wasn't inhabited, it'd seem like a good place to call home. With a small smile, his eyelids slid over his eyes as he slunk into sleep. Loud crackling sounds and coughing woke Xavier. His green eyes shot awake as he looked around. Smoke was everywhere along with fire. Next to him Iggy was coughing in his sleep, his pure white fur turning a silver due to the soot. Xavier shoved his brother with his head, jerking the other awake as both got to their feet.

"Run! Away from the fire!" Xavier shouted out "Don't inhale the smoke!"

  Iggy nodded before Xavier bolted in a direction clear of fire. He didn't look behind him to see if Iggy was behind him, confident that his brother was matching pace with him. However, the faster he ran the farther behind his brother fell until his cries could no longer be heard. It wasn't long until Xavier noticed that he couldn't hear his brother and he stopped. Turning around his eyes widened in horror. Iggy hadn't followed him. With a loud scream, he turned back and sprinted into the burning jungle. Fire began to lick at his feet as he let out screams, moving just in time to avoid flames burning a leg.

  In the distance watched blue eyes. Their owner had been awoken by the smell of fire and smoke and left the ruins that they called home. Only when they had seen the scene and were just about to leave, they had heard screaming. They had leaped into the jungle, swiftly avoiding the fire as if dancing until they came up the owner of the screams. A pearl kukuri with a bushy tail. Their ears twitched as they watched the scene in front of him, the cries of 'Iggy' intrigued him and remained hidden. Deciding they would follow this weird intruder to see who this 'iggy' was, not to mention they would need his help out of the fire. Idiots they were, running back into the fire when they didn't even know the jungle.

An entry for the monthly quest and the first piece to kick off the 'Nightwishes' storyline between Tezcalipoca and Xolotl along with Ix and Chi. This was a really good excercise to practice fire and I definitely learned a few new tricks. uvu
