Description
Wall.e spun around in a spaceborne version of a pirouette, then used the fire extinguisher to blast off towards the bow of the Axiom. E.v.e. followed, happily chirping a love song which Wall.e had never heard before. Wall.e chirped it right back, turning the song into a duet. They spiraled around each other, and flew around the bow of the starship before dancing along the other side. They flew around the back, and flew loops around the Axiom's engines as they fired, each ignition sending a fountain of purple light and heat radiating into space. Wall.e and E.v.e. then played in the thruster wash, with E.v.e. teaching Wall.e how to blink and recall. They then raced along the side of the great starship, spiraling around each other. Wall.e unconsciously spread her wings, and began flapping them as if she were flying under her own power. Her tail began swishing from side to side, the forward thrust provided by the fire extinguisher causing her tail wings to wave in a serpentine motion. E.v.e. recognized the action as a mating dance- the right one this time- and flew up to Wall.e's side, spreading her own wings and tail wings as she did so. Wall.e glanced over at E.v.e. and noticed that she was now flapping her wings and swishing her tail, and then looked back at her own wings and tail... and realized that she was doing the exact same mating dance that E.v.e. was doing- the Fury mating dance. The two of them turned around in front of the bridge, and began to circle each other as if they were on dry land instead of in space. On the bridge, Captain McCrea glanced out the window and spotted Wall.e and E.v.e. starting to dance in sync with each other.
McCrea had been on a wiki walk for the past several hours after having the computer analyze a sample of dirt from Wall.e, and was fascinated by pre-launch human culture. He pulled himself away from the computer for a moment to watch Wall.e and E.v.e. dance as the computer defined the term "Hoedown." He steered his hoverchair towards the window, wondering what Wall.e and E.v.e. were doing. Auto slank down from the ceiling at that moment, and McCrea returned to the computer, saying, "Auto, Earth is amazing! These are called farms- prelaunch humans would put seeds in the ground, pour water on them, and grow food, like pizza!" Auto replied, "Goodnight Captain", and turned off the display and the lights. McCrea noted that he sounded bemused, and not too fascinated by Earth prior to 2105. He started to steer his hoverchair towards the elevator, then heard the distinct click of Autos ceiling port closing. He steered his hoverchair back to the computer, and whispered, "Psst! Computer! Define Dancing!" He had heard the word a few times when looking up pre-launch human culture. The computer started back up, and stated, "Dancing: A series of movements between two partners, often in perfect harmony with music. This behavior is similar to the mating dances of birds of paradise, dragons, and synths, and may be a defining factor in establishing romantic relationships in humans." Captain McCrea glanced out the window again. Wall.e and E.v.e. were now gone, but the image of them dancing stuck in his mind. McCrea asked, "Computer, can you show footage of the Night Fury mating dance?" The computer obliged, pulling up a clip from How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. The clip showed Toothless and the Light Fury dancing on top of a giant crystal in the deep Hidden World. McCrea then asked if the computer could pull up footage of a real life Night Fury mating dance for comparison. The dance shown in the footage matched up almost perfectly with the one from the movie. Spotting something familiar about the dancing, McCrea then asked the computer if it could pull up footage of a synth mating dance and compare it to the furies. The footage that came up depicted two vaguely familiar synths dancing in a setting that the Captain had never seen before. The computer identified the synth mating dance as matching up perfectly with the furies mating dance, and asked if McCrea wished to watch Wall.e and E.v.e. dance, pulling up real time footage of the pair dancing in space. Captain McCrea then noticed a strong similarity between Wall.e and E.v.e., and the pair of... distinctly non-cyborg synths dancing in the historical footage. Captain McCrea asked, "Hey ,computer, can you identify the synths dancing in the footage?" The computer replied, "The synths depicted in the historical footage are Waste Allocation Load Lifter :Earth Class 18138 and Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator AX 01, or Emily and Lena "Tracer" Oxton prior to the year 2105. The pair are documented as having been kidnapped and separated in the year 2105. Extrapolating from live footage: it appears that this lesbian couple is reconnecting." McCrea, now feeling like a kid who was eagerly reading under the covers by flashlight, requested that the computer define "Lesbian"... without removing any of the footage that was being shown onscreen. The computer centered the live feed of Wall.e and E.v.e. dancing, and responded, "Lesbian: a woman who feels romantic attraction to people of the same gender or biological sex as her..." McCrea was even more fascinated than before: neither he nor anyone else on the Axiom had felt romantic feelings before, and watching Wall.e and E.v.e. dance had somehow made him feel more human... and lonelier than ever before.
On the Axiom's passenger deck, Mary had been watching the stars in awe. When Wall.e and E.v.e. flew past, doing their mating dance, she got excited, and shouted, "HEY, There's what's her name!", backing her chair up into John's. The impact jostled John's chair, causing him to jump in surprise, exclaiming, "Woah!" as he did so. Mary turned around, exclaimed, "Look!", and shut off John's video screen, bringing her chair back to the window to watch. She pointed out Wall.e and E.v.e. dancing, and John's face lit up. He said, "I know that girl! That's uh... Wall.e!" The two of them then shouted at the same time, Mary shouting, "Hi Wall.e!", and John shouting, "Hey! It's your buddy John!" They also waved at the same time, then reached for their hoverchair controls. Mary and John accidentally held hands trying to reach for the same hoverchair controls, and noticed each other for the first time. They looked at each other- face to face- and said, "Hi." to each other. Mary then told John about the pool- which she didn't know they had until Wall.e had disconnected her from the holoscreen the previous day. John seemed fascinated, and the pair went to the lido deck to enjoy the pool. They would end up enthusiastically splashing each other, and when the lifeguard bot spouted, "No Splashing, No Diving! No squirting pool-", they just splashed water all over it too.
MO had gotten frustrated enough to jump off his guideline and start following Wall.e's filth trail as he cleaned it up the day before. He had followed it relentlessly, not caring if he caused a few robots to start a traffic snake or accidentally bumped into hoverchairs along the way. he was now approaching the Lido Deck, and he paused for a moment to take a breather and look out the window. MO first noticed the sheer amount of stars. Then he gasped in disbelief. There was Wall.e, who he'd personally nicknamed "Jean-Val-Jean", dancing in space! And she was dancing with E.v.e. no less! MO could not believe his foreign contaminant sensors. He couldn't help but wonder what the hell they were thinking- just tossing aside their directives like that! Then he gasped again when he saw them kiss- could they be in love?!? MO looked back at the filth trail and wondered- if they could put aside their directives, could he do the same? He also wondered if he was being too much of an Inspector Javert, and if he should just let Wall.e off the hook and accept that she'd come from a place made of "Foreign Contaminant." MO then put those thoughts aside for the moment and resumed cleaning up the filth trail.
Out in space, Wall.e was feeling giddy with romance as she and E.v.e. spiraled around each other, wings flapping and tails waggling as if there was no tomorrow. She glanced at E.v.e.'s face, and found herself staring directly into E.v.e.'s eyes. The two of them stopped dancing for a moment, and leaned towards each other. They closed their eyes, and butted heads. A spark- no- a bolt of electricity surged between them, and their hidden world markings lit up. Wall.e felt as if this moment could last forever- just her and E.v.e., hovering in space in between dances. Just as quickly as it started, the moment was over, and the pair flapped their wings at each other, threw their heads back, and roared in unison. Something else happened in that moment. Wall.e's sail and E.v.e.'s back pines split open, and a new glow began to emanate from their bodies alongside the hidden world markings. Their spines were now glowing Mulberry and Cyan respectively, their sail and spines glowed an even brighter shade. The glow spread from their backs and tails to the edges of their wings, pelvic wings, and tail fins, and their nostrils and the insides of their mouths began to glow as well. Both suddenly became aware of how powerful they felt in this state- although they couldn't put a name to it yet. It was now Wall.e's turn to invite E.v.e. to dance, and she gestured with enthusiasm, excitedly squealing, "E.v.a.!" They took off once again, spiraling around the hull of the leviathan. This time, it was Wall.e's turn to try to teach E.v.e. something new, so she fired off a plasma blast, and flew through it. Everything except the fire extinguisher disappeared. E.v.e. shot Wall.e a knowing look, and fired off her own electrified plasma blast, disappearing into space. Wall.e looked around, confused, and then felt something brush her back. She looked up and decloaked at the same time as E.v.e., who was now flying right above her. E.v.e. then did a playful barrel roll, settling down on Wall.e's other side. E.v.e. then demonstrated a version of the cloaking ability that didn't require a plasma blast, simply disappearing into an electric field. Wall.e tried it out herself, emitting a burst of flames and lightning. To Wall.e's amazement, all she could see when she looked over her shoulder was a lingering trail of electrified fire. E.v.e. shortly decloaked and nuzzled her. Wall.e decloaked just as they approached the engines again. They again playfully flew around the thrusters, this time flying right through the fires as well as around them. Once on the port side of the Axiom, Wall.e spotted an electrical current forming, and changed course, heading right towards it. Once she flew into it, Wall.e rode the current at literal lightning speed back to the bow of the Axiom. She turned around to see if E.v.e. had followed. Wall.e couldn't see her- the Axiom was that big- although she knew E.v.e. was somewhere near the stern. A moment later, Wall.e spotted another electrical current forming, and just as fast, E.v.e. reappeared right next to her, with an amazed look on her face. They giggled, and flew in front of the bridge a third time. This time, they spotted Captain McCrea waving enthusiastically at them, and they waved back. They once more set to spiraling around each other, repeating the Fury mating dance, and then flying straight upwards in relation to the Axiom. The fire extinguisher ran out of fuel right as they reached the highest point of their flight. Wall.e and E.v.e. grabbed each other's hands instead, and leaned backwards, and dropped into a space-borne trust fall, their tails becoming entwined with each other as they fell.
