Description
E.v.e. flew Wall.e straight to the elevator, and punched a code into the interface. The doors closed just before two SECUR-T units passed by, allowing Wall.e and E.v.e. to narrowly avoid being herded back into the repair ward. As the elevator began to move, the TV screen above the doors flickered to life, showing the "Rogue Robots" warning. Wall.e pointed up and the screen, and asked, "E.v.a.?" E.v.e. growled and shot the screen with her arm cannon, causing Wall.e to flinch. She backed away from E.v.e., and pressed herself against the back corner of the elevator, feeling like a henpecked husband. Wall.e kept nervously glancing at E.v.e., and then glancing at her own hands, now guessing that she'd knocked herself back to square 1 again, and this time wondering if she would ever get the chance to patch things up with E.v.e..
The doors opened on a dormant escape pod, and E.v.e. lead Wall.e off the elevator, and onto the boarding ramp. She turned on a small console, and punched something into the console. An image of Earth appeared on the viewscreen above the pod's entrance as it flickered to life. Wall.e stared down at the floor, wondering if E.v.e. would allow her even just one moment to try to make things right. E.v.e. then tapped Wall.e on the shoulder, pointed up at the screen, and said, "Earth." Wall.e shook her head, and offered her hand in apology, saying, "E.v.a.?" E.v.e. then indicated to the escape pod, repeating, "Earth." Wall.e again shook her head, and said, just loud enough for E.v.e. to hear, "No. E.v.a.", and stepped away from the escape pod. Tiring of the delay, E.v.e. grabbed Wall.e's hand, and lead her into the escape pod, gently, but firmly saying, "Wall.e. Earth.", as she stepped out of the escape pod. Wall.e, confused, asked, "E.v.a.?", and gestured at the couch next to her. E.v.e. turned around and shook her head, stating, "Directive." She spread the fingers on one hand as she did so, almost as if she was once again about to say goodbye to Wall.e. Wall.e, distraught at the thought of being forced to leave E.v.e., stepped out of the escape pod, and pointed to the floor, saying, "E.v.a.. Directive." E.v.e. stopped dead in her tracks, and slowly turned around. It seemed as if she hadn't thought Wall.e would use her own words against her. Suddenly, the sound of the elevator doors dinging echoed through the room.
E.v.e. hurriedly turned the escape pod off, and both she and Wall.e dashed into the shadows on one side of the escape pod doors. The elevator doors creaked open, and GO-4 floated out of the elevator, and directly towards a semi-transparent screen. His epaulets popped up above the screen after a moment, and then GO-4 floated out from behind the screen, and towards the escape pod. Wall.e and E.v.e. watched suspiciously as he turned the escape pod back on, and then went inside. E.v.e.'s facial expression turned to horror, and she gasped and quietly whispered, "Plant!" as GO-4 opened up his chest cavity and deposited the booted plant on the floor of the escape pod. He then floated towards the console and flipped open a glass case, pressing the red button underneath. He then left the console, and Wall.e went in, and picked up the plant. She said, "E.v.a.! Plant!", and started to walk back towards the exit. Alarmed, E.v.e. shouted, "WALL.E!", and was then recoiled backwards by the force of the escape pod doors slamming shut and the pod launching itself out of the bay. GO-4 fled the scene as E.v.e., the living daylights practically scared right out of her, ran for an emergency launch tube in the corner, threw herself into it, and launched herself after the rogue escape pod.
Inside the pod, Wall.e was thrown against the door as the pod suddenly launched itself and accelerated to cruising speed, screaming as she was thrown against it. She fell into a heap on the floor as the pod's computer declared, "Cruising Speed reached. You are now free to move about the cabin." Wall.e peeled herself off the floor, scooped up the plant, and threw it into her trash compacter. The computer stated, "20 seconds to self destruct." Wall.e launched herself at the console, and desperately hammered at the red button, trying to shut it off. She accidentally broke the button hammering too hard on it, and the computer declared, "15 seconds to self destruct." Wall.e, panicked, then started pressing all sorts of buttons on the console. In five seconds, she made the periscope pop up, the bottom raft inflate, the pod do a barrel roll, the headlights flash, the pod honk loudly, and the missile counter measures fire. "10 seconds to self destruct. 10... 9... 8..." Wall.e grabbed the fire extinguisher and squeezed the nozzle, launching herself back across the pod, and towards the door. "...7... 6... 5..." Wall.e banged the fire extinguisher against the door handle, forcing it down, and the door open, causing an explosive decompression. "...4... 3... 2... 1... 0!" Wall.e sped away from the pod, and back towards the Axiom as the pod flew into the depths of space and exploded, using the fire extinguisher as a propellant.
E.v.e. watched the pod explode in the distance, and slowed to a stop, saying, "No... No..." as she briefly assumed that Wall.e was dead. She then started flying towards the wreckage, hoping that that wouldn't be the case. Suddenly, Wall.e blasted right past her, and her radio transciever picked up Wall.e screaming, "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.V.AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" E.v.e. excitedly shouted, "WALL.E!", and flew back towards her. Wall.e slowed to a stop, and re aimed the fire extinguisher to get herself back to E.v.e.. They flew past each other a second time, Wall.e cutting loose a cary of, "Woah-Woah-Woah!" as she flew past E.v.e.. E.v.e. slowed to a stop a short distance away, and Wall.e once again used the fire extinguisher to propel herself towards her, finally remarking, "Poof!" as she showed E.v.e. the fire extinguisher. E.v.e. giggled, and Wall.e then said, "E.v.a.! Look!", opening her trash compactor and pulling out the seedling. E.v.e. grabbed the plant with a tractor beam, pulled it back into her plant support chamber, and squealed, "WALL.E!", grabbing her, and pulling her into a hug. Wall.e enjoyed the moment- it was just her and E.v.e., embracing each other, spinning through space as they cuddled. E.v.e. then headbutted Wall.e, and an electric spark jumped between the two of them. It was E.v.e.'s version of a kiss- the metallic jaws of her armor didn't easily permit a kiss on the lips. Wall.e floated away in shock- E.v.e. had just kissed her! Wall.e now felt as if the world had just turned upside down, and she'd somehow made a breakthrough while doing so. E.v.e. laughed, and then said, "Wall.e!", holding out her hand, and then gesturing out at the void. It took Wall.e a moment to realize that E.v.e. was inviting her to dance with her.
