Erebus is Child 669 of several thousands of children codenamed by serial numbers. He has been kept isolated from the public in a secret underground orphanage for children born from, or are of inhuman qualities.

Erebus was reanimated from his untimely death at a boarding school. Thus, his limbs often fall apart. He is incapable of speech and isolates himself from the other orphans, that is except for Child 996.
