Description
Today I finished my first "serious" watercolor work in the last few years. I have long wanted to learn how to paint, but various problems pushed me away from it. Now I have overcome myself. This is the drinking Qianzhousaurus sinensis, a long-faced tyrannosaurid also known as the"Pinocchio-Rex".
This drawing is nothing more than a remake of a watercolor work from back in 2014 ( www.deviantart.com/xiphactinusβ¦). I wanted to see how much progress I've made since then in terms of knowledge and skill. The new version differs significantly from the original. Here is a more accurate anatomy of the head of Pinocchio-Rex. The changes also affected the color scheme, and I also decided to add a wrinkled skin on the throat. I decided to leave the feathers and "lips". These are very controversial aspects of the appearance of tyrannosaurids, and I will not discuss them here. The background remained simplified and somewhat stylized.
Overall, I am happy with the result. I liked working with textures, especially with feathers and keratin. It turned out not without flaws, but I'm just learning to work with paints. It was a useful experience, and I hope that I can more or less get used to using this "tool".
Watercolors, 2020.
