-As I followed, an unsuspecting tension slowly filled the air. In the absence of conversation, sounds of the coarse mix of gravel and sand echoed the displacement between us, shifting beneath each step. The encompassing crisp air from the water, and light rustles of the sand reeds made light of the situation at hand, lending itself to a false tranquility. Nevertheless, it felt as if we would never reach the top of the hill. Inevitably, however, we did. As we reached the peak, a deafening silence washed over the space, our feet now still as our voices. And there, for a moment, as the night eclipsed the dusk, he was the only light in the world.
However, I couldn't have possibly guessed what was about to unfold.-
