Welcome to Tanglewood Acres!

As you arrive in the stables you will park in our large carpark containing over 30 spaces, and enter straight onto the main courtyard.

The Main Stables

The main stable yard contains thirty stables. Ten of these are for mares, split by an archway leading to the rear of the centre, ten are for stallions (seen on the right) and ten are for geldings (left). The large twisted oak tree gives the equestrian centre it's name and is a faveorite hang out place amoung riders on sunny days. Each stable is fully equipped with automatic water troughs, sawdust bedding with the front half filled with rubber matting, corner feeders and 24-hour CCTV. We keep some of the top breeding stallions and competing horse's here at Tanglewood Acres so their safety and wellbeing is our top priority.

The Guest Stables

Directly behind the courtyard you can veiw the Guest Stables, where temporary visitors for shows or training can stop and keep their horse safe and happy. They also serve as a quarntine stables in potential crisis or in the event a horse is injured as these stables are slightly smaller than the main stables. However the horse's welfare is not comprimesed if they are only here for a few months! Each stable is equipped with 24-hour CCTV (Which is monitored from the Guest Office), sawdust bedding with the front half covered in rubber matting, tieing rings inside and outside the stables, automatic water troughs and corner feeders. Information about events, board and general help can be found in the Guest Office.

Outdoor Arenas

To the side of the Guest Stables you can see the two large outdoor arenas. One, the left hand side, is used for dressage training and for dressage shows and is fully equipped with veiwing boxes and decorative flowers to create the atmosphere of a large scale competition right here during training! The right hand side arena is primarly multipurpose, with a storage shed containing a varity of different types of jumps with fillers or just coloured poles. The vairty gives potential show jumpers a real taste of what to expect when out at a competiton.

The Round Pen

The roundpen to the left of the Guest Stables is perfect for younger horses or untrained horses. The pen must be prebooked at the Guest Office as only one horse may enter at a time. The Roundpen also doubles as a quarantine area for new arrivals to have their vet check and wormers.

The Indoor Arena

The Indoor arena is accessed through the left side of the archway, behind the mare's stables. The indoor arena is multipurpose, equipped with a veiwing area and perfect for that big event atmosphere during training. In addition, it's a nice way to continue riding through the rainy and winter months! The indoor is often used for seminars, competitons and training days so pre-booking is essential if you wish to have the arena to yourself with with a select group of riders.

The Fields and Hacking

Finally, surrounding the estate are five fields for horse's to be seperated into. Geldings and mares graze together, and stallions are placed in the high fenced paddock furthest right. The fields are equipped with natural shelter of trees and bushes, automatic feeders and strong post and rail fences. The fields are checked regularly and are poo picked twice daily, in the morning and evening, by our hardworking stable hands. Surrounding the equestrian centre we can offer some of the best forest hacking in Ireland, with over 50 acres of forest land being owned by the estate. Our cross country and TREC Courses can be found in the forest, direct by signs from the roundpen!

Enjoy your visit and happy riding!
