Description
Sorry for all the grammatical errors, I'm not really very good in the English grammar!!!Thank you a lot to for helping me to fix the grammar!!!
When I start this, I was so afraid of what could happen if I ost it, but I'm happy of doing right now!
Before someone say something like: WHO ARE YOU TO TELL HOW MAKE OCs?!?!?! Well, I not order you to read or follow what it says, I did this Tutorial for everybody that would like read it or for those new artists that doesn't know how start their stories and everything! Because today we seen so many gallery of people full of talent but that only does always bishonens or pretty girls (or boys that look like pretty girls), that doesn't risk to try new styles or ideas for fear of what other people could say!
So, if I insulted someone with this tutorial, I apologize and not take it personal because this is my opinion only!
Thank you a lot for your times guys! and thanks Frau for the advices!
ALRIGHT! I JUS CAN'T DO IT!! So, I will say it here! THANK YOU A LOT FOR ALL THE FAVS AT THIS TUTORIAL! You are totally awesome for it!!!

you don't have to try to avoid all the cliches and stereotipes, if you give your characters a special touch, everything will be good!

You are making some good points. But I think it is kind of ridiculous that while critizising all those stereotypes you are using a lot of them, too. Especially for the non human caracters. Can't a robot without emotions be jealous of a human who is able to feel love? Why should robots not be able to feel emotions in the first place? Is it really something good to live forever? There's way more you can do with caracters for giving them deph and credibility. Of course your tutorial is a good start but you wrote it like these are laws for good OC's. I see them more like possibilities.
I think a good approach to creating an OC, especially one who is in some way different from humans in general or just different from you, is to really really think about how you would feel in their situation. Try to look at it from different angles. A little example:
You seem to think of immortality as something really awesome. But you should think about how seeing your (mortal) loved ones die again and again and again could affect you oppinion on life.
Of course all this depents on how much depth you want to give your OC.

nothing is perfect at your first try and I did this 3 years ago, it was fine at that moment!
being jealous is an emotion, he will not feel it! a robot would know that when you have emotions you don't do the things in the way you should! have you read Issac Assimov's stories? you quite learn a lot from it about the way of the diferents kind of robots that could be!
heh, I think these are more like tips to have a good start and later everybody will just go in the way they like...!
I know what you try to say, and yes, one of the better ways to make a realistic character (even if what they are or how they life isn't) is to thinking how you would react in their places, but you also have to think that most of them probably owuld have a diferent personality than you

I have an OC with which I play that up with all the time. How does one make friends, or any form of attachments when one lives forever?

WOW!!! That tutorial is GREAT!!!! *0* ~BRAVO~
it's looks like you really become boring from the same things, and you know? Me too!
A lot of time I'm trying to think about good story, but I didn't know how to do that... The story was in my mind, and I tried to think how can I do the characters, I tried to do them with more human feelings but still to save their special features... It didn't work well, beacuse I know that there are a lot of things that make me become annoyed, but I didn't know what these things. I've always thought my oc too similar to the another character...
anyway, now I know what these things that make me become annoyed. THANK YOU!
ah! and i have something to add: You forgot the sad past of the characters, the main character doesn't have parents! *0*
(sorry for long comment and for grammer ) great TUTORIAL!!!

I overthink everything, so names for me are always a snag. I agree with absolutely everything you say except the bit about overthinking names. After all, don't most parents think long and hard before naming their children? I'm also of the opinion that names should reflect more on the parents than on the person - after all, when you're born, your parents don't know how you're going to end up a decade or two down the line!
The grammar and spelling mistakes distracted a bit, but not enough to really hurt what you were trying to say. DD well-deserved and congratulations!

To me, what makes a character original is also their background/ body type. I was kind of surprised there wasn't different body types in here. Also i'm not a fan of anime at all, so a lot of the terminology and stuff I have no idea about XD (when talking about stories). I think there always needs to be balance when creating a character. Not just the design, but the story and relationships that makes them unique. I know some of my characters have somewhat simplistic designs, however they have extremely involved background stories that makes them really unique (not to mention, character designs are forever changing). Sometimes overdoing characters making them look generic (Ie- those anime folks with the pink hair/ odd outfits).
I also think when you say "negative" feelings, some characters ARE supposed to be negative, it is what makes them original. Course not saying every trait has to be negative, but some characters are pessimistic, some arn't, etc. And stereotypes can also help in development, sometimes having someone based off a stereotype (looks wise) and having their personality be the TOTAL opposite makes them unique. I know for some of my older characters, I used to do that. People LOVED them because they were stereotypical and funny. I guess it all comes down to what you as a person perceives as original.
I know everybody has their idea of what is original. I don't personally agree with many of the topics covered on this tutorial, but I am sure that other people have been helped by this. Everybody is different. What it comes down to in the end is "What is Originality?". I think each and every person has their own way of describing what is original to them. I don't really think any one thing can narrow it down. What may be a boring character to me, might not be to someone else. I think it all rests in the eye of the beholder, and personal preference. The same goes for style.
If a character is drawn in a style that is unappealing to someone, it kind of brings the character down for that person. I know that often if I see characters drawn in a style I am not a fan of, It kind of draws me away from that character and makes them less appealing.
Anyways, just some feedback from me. I hope I'm not sounding rude or anything >_< Just some things I think about when I read tutorials, I always feel the urge to post in depth remarks LOL.
Anyways, aside from that, Congrats on the DD!

I didn't put any because I didn't know really well how to draw bodies back then, sorry!
I did write there just to don't only focus on negative feelings, of course you can have characters which act in a more dark/sad/evil/bad or that kind of stuff than others characters, that is natural, but even the sad guy can have his happy times or the villain can enjoy in a healthy way doing something he likes!
this is not a book of rules these are more like a list of tips to just start your stories if the case is taht you don't have any idea of how
heh don't worry, I really liked read your comment, was really well thought!

Hah nonono its fine! XD I was just curious lol.
I remember I had this one character, he was so generic... and he hated everyone, but i had people who loved him! Then i sat back and went... "I want to make him more unique, but everyone already likes him". I ended up retiring my older ones because I felt they were too generic, even though people I guess still loves them. Which is quite funny, becuase I think the sterotypical generic ones were more loved than my unique ones XD.
Hah I have a habit of leaving really in depth comments... >_< like to make everybody think. X3 not to mention I like to have feedback/ give feedback on topics and ideas that I find interesting.

I'm thinking in make a second part, if I do, maybe I will add it
well, sometimes you can have some characters that are more original than others but that doesn't mean the others are bad for be more stereotypical, you have just to try to find a the style that fix everyone
I like to do that too, I think is way better than just say "this is really nice/cute"! too bad that sometimes people can think that you are trying to be rude with them!
