Description
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
Okay, so I kinda lied. This part was supposed to include both character creation and story writing, but as I was putting it together, I kept thinking up more crap to add and it got too long, so I had to split it up. That means that there will now be 4 parts total. XD
Once again, I hope you find this helpful!
If you have any questions or concerns, or if you have any additional advice you think I should have included, then please let me know!

this is always my favorite section of creating a story. i already have the personality and flaws of my main character and his rival. the pokemon are proving to be more challenging because in this creation they do not talk. i actually have been looking to nuzlockes with talking pokemon as a rule that have a certain character that does not speak. **cough**charlie**cough** the amount of information delivered through body gestures and facial expressions is amazing- not to mention inspiring.
i need to finish this run so i can start storyboarding!! three more gym leaders to go.... then the e4 and the relevant plot details that cannot be left out.... actually i still have a lot to do. **sigh**

Really good advice here Yin - this goes for any storytelling, I guess.

"If a Pokemon dies because of a mistake your character made, but your trainer shows no form of regret and no one calls them out on it"
/looks at gameplay notes of own run\ Looks like I'm replaying my game.

I was referring to the amount of deaths in my run. You can't have the protagonist develop every death for over... for say, a box worth of deaths, when the newcomers die first in major battles. Damn that spoiler avoiding. All deaths have to be mentioned that way.
When I replay my games for the same run, I change a lot of things. The notes are way more organized and I have a better idea of what to expect (team building and boss wise), and it lets me set certain goals for the plot (examples, catch this Pokemon at that place because plot importance for later // have at least one Pokemon die for character development when battling that guy)
But yeah, that run is about a few months old. I had this horrible phase back then when I play hacks, every major battle, at least one Pokemon died, no matter how much I grinded. I was a save state abuser, and that taught me about this thing I like to call scripted AI. But still, I dunno :T

I guess I should have included that your trainer doesn't have to go into a deep depression every time a pokemon dies. It's usually the first big death that really counts.

I highly approve of this guide so far. Shows me I still have lots to learn...
I finished my Gold run on my Gameboy, now I still have to write the entire comic out.
I'll be sure to follow this guide step by step for my next comic. I can't describe how much I am enjoying the making of my Gold run.

I think I'm going to restart my comic. I'm considering doing a whole new run... but since I barely started drawing anything anyway, nobody'll miss it, and it means I have a complete setup already done. Now I just have to make a world... Looking forwards to seeing the rest of these guides!

You realize I'm going to come back to these REPEATEDLY as I'm going on my Wonderlocke right?

I actually needed this. If I'm going to tell an original story after working on my nuzlocke, then I need to learn some basic tips, these are the best I could find! If my nuzlocke and original comic become successful, it will be because of your guides and my growth as an artist! Thank you so much Yin!

i agree with alot of the points made in this especily the characterization. afew comics or storys i read dont start strong with making the protag very likeable and just try to get plot thrown in and thats just not how its done. good tips now if only i could draw rather than write XP
