hopping on the next gen bandwagon laddies, heres a teaser! below is a short description of how this AU differs from the show.
- so first of all, the elements of harmony. in this au, the virtue that each element represents changes for each generation of bearers, aka every 50 or so years. the elements are remnants of a small pact once part of an ancient civilization who aimed to solve all problems in equestria, and because of that they created a set of all-powerful artifacts that adapted to solve their society's most dire issues.
- the elements would lay dormant for decades, before they were found and re-awakened by the mane six. the magic used in the elements is so powerful and foreign to modern day equestrians that not even the princesses had any clue they would shift once the new generation rolled around
- either way, the elements are now referred to as the elements of balance, or simply the elements, and the most elite scholars in equestria were scrambling trying to find the new chosen bearers, as the mane six are now incapable of using the elements.
- because of this, villains all over the land are starting to creep out from their hideaways, and have proven themselves particularly troublesome in ponyville and the surrounding areas - this is how the new bearers, who will be revealed eventually, came to possess their elements.
- elements this time around are temperance, charity, diligence, patience, humility and justice.
- oh also the original creators of the elements were horses. just saying this so i remember.
- secondly, starlight was never redeemed! that's right. i enjoyed the concept of her shitty little village a bit too much to let hasbro just tie it up with a neat little bow and stow it away. and also, while i'm not usually one to get too edgy, i absolutely will be making that whole subplot a lot darker than it originally was.

i may change a few other non-obvious things (ships and who ends up together in the end will most likely be changed a lot) but i'll add it here if i manage to remember.
