One day, stopping for a signal, Thomas saw the tractor close by. He saw the two trainers from earlier again, this time from a closer view. The tractor looked at Thomas. "Hullo!" said the tractor. "I'm Terence! I'm ploughing!" Thomas stared hard at Terence with a cross look on his face. "I'm Thomas," he said, "I run this line." Then Thomas stared hard at Terence's wheels. "Wow, what ugly wheels you got!" One trainer heard this and covered Thomas' mouth with her hand. "Shh," she said, "You've offended him!" Terence stared at Thomas. "I agree to what Serena said, Thomas," said Terence. "They're not ugly, they're caterpillar tracks; I am completely mobile on these caterpillar tracks of mine. I don't need rails." Thomas was cross to hear this. The other trainer kept firm with Thomas by comforting him with his Pikachu. "See, Thomas?" said Terence, "Even Ash thinks so too." Thomas calmed down, but he was still fuming a bit. "I don't really want to go anywhere," he said, "I like my rails, thank you." Terence listened. "Nevermind Thomas," replied Terence, "I respect your opinion. I find rails tricky to work on, but I don't mind. This made Thomas feel much better. "You're caterpillar tracks seem to have many benefits," said Thomas. "Thanks for saying so," replied Terence. Thomas puffed away with a cheerful look on his face when he had met a new friend.
