Description
We now head to the great western continent of Knoderin. It is the largest landmass in the world, with a population as diverse as its environment. At its heart, surrounded by mountains, lies the Holy City of Sabudis. To the south, the Khanwar Oasis cuts through desert sands. In the north, mountains fade into wood and lowlands crashing over steep cliffs at the water’s edge.
{Abudoa} Hyurian ancestors came to this land in search of a new way of life. Like many other species, ideas of a new Fayth, were enticing. Some went south, founding the country of Eludoa. Others, chasing the taboo of the black arts, ventured north to settle Abudoa. The neighboring nations offered camaraderie and guidance along this new path. With their aid, the country quickly grew, combining tradition with modern ideas, into a bustling and proud nation. In seemingly fitting irony, or perhaps just fitting depending on where you live, the name Abudoa was taken from the Hyurian word for life, "Abudare.
{Belyer}No sooner did word spread of the great western continent did the Stome set sail. By claiming the eastern peninsula, they secured their place as the gateway to this new land. What these folk lack in size, they more than make up for in creativity and ingenuity. As one of the earlier nations to be settled, they were instrumental in helping many other species cross the oceans. Their position on the world stage as traders and navigators had lead to a wealth of allies, information and culture.
{Eludoa}Situated on the northeastern border of the Shihalid Desert, the Hyurin have settled another colony. Eludoan ancestors were drawn to new prospects of Fayth that came with the founding of Sabudis, and migrated from both Lyndiel and Sandor . The landscape, ranging from dry flatlands to rolling hills and even modest mountains, provided a welcome change to thick forests and heavy snow. In fact, the name Eludoa, was taken from the Hyurian word for balance, "Eludare."{Ermydia}On the edge of the Desert of Shihalid and the Khanwar Oasis, the Syndaare settled their fifth nation, second on Knoderin. These dark-skinned humanoids emigrated in protest from Hirassyn as the celebration and practice of the dark arts flourished. They found new zeal in worship, not of any Fayth, but of history. They seek to discover the past of Erandur, the secrets of the Ilvicean Age. While the youngest of all Syndaare nations, it is considered to be the most culturally pure in regards to outside influence.
{Hirassyn}The Syndaare first established this country on the northern coast. Influence from their neighbors, the Erutan'Nosrel, opened the practice of the dark art of necromancy. While its practice remains taboo, often looked down upon as a perversion of natural order, the rulers of Hirassyn thought otherwise. Eager to delve into this new kind of magic, the ban on its teaching was lifted. This act caused a great rift within the country, prompting an exodus to southern Knoderin.{Kokash}The Northern Desert of Shihalid provides a welcome second home to the Rhemir. Legends say their father, the sun god, led these giants here from Palatan in order to pursue scholarship and deeper Fayth. Wanting his children to strengthen and better themselves, he was attracted by the founding of the Holy City Sabudis. With new neighbors, ideas, and beliefs, they have been able to further enrich their culture.
{Kulgag} For most of the Ogthur, an existence close to nature is ideal. However, there were those who felt it was self- limiting, that wanted to prove wrong those who looked down upon them. The opening of the Holy City, encouraged many pilgrimages and combined with promises of great power from the Nosrel, a faction of Ogthur left their homeland. They would settle on the northwestern coast, north of the Nyorian Mountains. Here, in the woodlands, they would experiment with the dark arts.{Matogwa}To the east of the Shihalid Desert are the marshes of the Ogo River. It is here that the Ogthur made their home. One of the more physically imposing species, these ogres are often portrayed as the villains of tall tales. They are also shunned by many more "advanced" species for their frugal, if primitive ways and insistence to remain so. Living off the river and surrounding wetlands has given them a healthy respect for nature. They are a simple folk who do keep to themselves, building small camps spread apart rather than cities or even villages.
{Najahran}The Southern Desert of Shihalid provides home to the Sun god's second children: the Erutan'Suiad. Despite being the youngest of their kind, these sand elves were given constitution and invention fit to survive the heat of the desert. To the north, the Khanwar Oasis and river divide the desert, providing a welcomed verdance to the desertscape. No matter where you journey, you will find, vibrant colors and dyes, flora and architecture like no other place in the world. The largest trade market can be found in Kakkara, the capital. From secret labyrinths to underground cities and gardens, rumors abound from this desert metropolis attracting visitors of all types.{Nyori}The Araeoin, a species of gnoll, took claim to the caverns beneath the western mountains. Large halls and tunnels have been partially hollowed out to create an extensive network of caves and towns. They made their homes from the earthen rock and crystal ore found within. These colorful veins of ore, found throughout the mountain, are used in many other areas of their society. Bathing the country in brilliant hues of orange, blue, green, even purple, creating a unique atmosphere.
{Qelan}After losing land to the other gods in Sandor , Qualuria, the goddess of the seas, chose her first kin, the Tameidrin , to found this surface colony along the Khanwar Oasis and river. The country blends their aquatic architectural style with the surface landscape. Lacking corals, and marine flora, they were influenced by the Suiad, mimicking many of their vibrant colors schemes and patterns. A quiet and peaceful centre of multicultural blends, Qelan has earned a reputation as the "paradise land."{Sabudis}The Holy City of Sabudis is located at the heart of Knoderin surrounded by mountains. They serve as a natural barrier and gateway. This city-country is the only one of its kind in the world. Independent of any sovereign nation it is unwavering in neutrality. Sabudis is the center of all Fayth ; the only place to hold temples for all of the gods. It is also the center for scholarship and philosophy of the way of the world. The city is "ruled" by The Laten Oracle. He or she is elected by the representative body, the Elders of the Fayth. All 24 Fayths hold seat, and work together to ensure the long lasting peace of Sabudis. Many species migrated to the surrounding areas to become more intune with the Fayth, be it by proximity, or newfound teachings.
{Saegarin}Even the stelwart Darondwe of Sandor , made their way to Knoderin. Set in the northeastern Telbraun Mountains, they have quite literally carved out their home utilizing traditional methods, as well as those learned from their Sandorian neighbors. the complex of cavernous towns is a sight to behold.{Tiraedhel}Set on the northern coast is the home of the Erutan'Nosrel. These elves played a large role in shaping the atmosphere of Knoderin. Intrigued by the mysterious and taboo art of necromancy, they put great efforts into its scholarship. This decision eventually caused a civil rift, resulting in an exodus of many persecuted Nosrel to Sandor. Their zeal and unapologetic attitude toward the black arts spread to their neighbors in Hirassyn. Despite its youth as a country, Tiredhael has caused and suffered through more than some of the oldest countries.
