Description
Location: Lucifer's Quarters; the Castle of IllusionUpon entering, Xilef had instantly thrown himself on the bed he knew the vampire never slept in. Luc looked at him disdainfully, hating how the demon was making a mess of his room. Sighing he put the book he was reading down, and focused on what the demon was up to. The pillows were thrown evenly across the mattress, the sheet thrown across them. Xilef lay on top, one paw behind his head, the other on his stomach.
"I need to-"
"You were going to let her touch my ears?" he sat up, hands in the gap between his legs where he hadn't quite crossed them, a look of puzzlement on his face.
"This is important."
"She hit me on the nose," he turned defiantly away, "I like my nose."
"She could have dragged you here by your tail or ears."
"My tail!" he hugged it protectively, "You were going to hurt my tail?"
"Xi," he was loosing his patience, "Shut up." The demon looked back up with wide innocent eyes.
"Don't give me that look." Falling on his back he began to pad the air with his paws. Going over to the bed he grabbed Xilef by the neck and lifted him. The demon's claws sank into Luc's arm as he tried to take the pressure off his neck.
"Now you're going to listen. I need you to go to the Land of Morn and Dusk, find out how they have responded to the taking of the Princess. You got that Xi?" The demon nodded, and his eyes looked up to the heavens as he was dropped.
"You're sending me away?"

The cat was on the bed, I was stroking his stomach, and he was purring contentedly. Because the cat was happy, I found myself smiling. The cat suddenly rose and jumped from the bed. As it came to the door it turned back around.
"Meow?"
"Where are you going puss?" He walked down the stairs, and with nothing better to do I followed.
Location: The Gardens of Illusion
I hadn't realised there were gardens to the castle yet, but I was running after the cat and wasn't concentrating on my surroundings. The cat stopped, and I picked him up.
"So where did you bring me puss?" I looked up, my face going to pale then sudden blush. I dropped the cat, turning I covered my mouth. My breath was catching in my throat, my heart beating heavy and fast. I blinked hard.
"Sorry," the voice didn't even sound like my own, "I didn't know you were-"
"How did you even find here?" came Luc's voice from behind me.
"I was following the cat." The excuse sounded rubbish, but it was the truth.
"Look," he started off with, and I did turn around. A towel was tied around his bare waist now, his hair was still wet from hi bath.
"I didn't expect you to find this place, evidently I should have made it more private. If the apologies belong to anyone it's me." So far my own warmed bath had been in my room, I hadn't known there were hot springs, but this hadn't been the right time to discover that.
"I'll just be heading back to the castle," I turned so my back was to him, the blood still hot in my cheeks.
She was already leaving when he turned his back on her. Sitting down he held his head in one hand. The cat had disappeared, when he was not sure.
"Why can I not put my thoughts in order? Why won't words come to my lips? Why can't I make good an apology?" His emerald eyes looked at the floor.
"Do you always sit about nakedly brooding in the garden when I am not here?" The vampire looked up and saw the demon there, his tail wafting behind him.
"But-"
"I'm back already. They're both miffed at you for taking the Princess. Despite however stupid or childish I act, I have to be the voice of reason for you, which means not leaving you on your own."
"You make it sound like you have more sense than me."
"I guess I did IMPLY that."
"How would you react if I hired a werewolf mercenary?"
"Cats will always rule, Princling," he put a claw to Luc's forehead, "And remember, werewolves are half human, I'm pure demon."
"One day Xilef, reality is going to hit you hard in the face."
"It's going to hit you sooner."
Location: The Tower of Midnight; the Castle of Illusion
The cat was on my lap, I sat curled up in the empty bath tub.
"Why can't things be clear puss?" I stroked at the back of his neck.
"Princess!" came Erica's call.
"Amber?" I looked up, Luc was sat there fully dressed. Looking back to the door I saw the key was in the lock.
"You look like you're planning something."
"What makes you say that?" I replied.
"The way you're sat there with the cat."
"I'm sat in a bath tub..."
"I wanted to apologise for earlier."
"Most people would choose not to apologise to someone in their bathroom."
"So you consider it yours?" My eyes were focused on his lips, he was now smiling, a laugh nearly forming.
"I suppose so," I bit my lip slightly. I stood up in the tub, holding the cat.
"I digress, I'm apologising for earlier. I didn't expect you and the cat to come along, I really should have put a fence or wall or something about the area."
"I shouldn't have just wandered about randomly."
"No, you're allowed to wander around wherever. If I want something left private I should make sure it is."
"No, I have myself to blame. You didn't expect me to find the place."
"Just let me get through an apology without you apologising back!"
"I can't let you take all the blame when part of it was my fault."
"You're too honest."
"You want to be too honest." Both of us stalled, looking away from each other.
"Why do we end up in these uncomfortable situations?"
"You tell me."
"You're the one that is my bathroom and locked the door."
"You make too good a point." He came and took the cat from me, smiling to himself as he began to stroke it.
"Cats are lucky, they don't have all these problems. All they have to do is look cute, eat fish and meow."
"And keep themselves clean," I added, "And fall asleep on your bed."
"Why do those last two just happen to describe me as well?"
"The only other things that cat has done is sleep on my pillow when I'm awake and then clean itself."
"And then act all cute so you hug and stroke him?" I blushed and nodded, the way he said it made me feel so childish, but he handed me the cat back. The cat softly meowed and opened his amber eyes, before shutting them contentedly again.
"Yes, why can't we all be cats?"
"Because then you wouldn't be able to lock my bathroom door." S if the door knew I was talking about it, someone began to hammer on it. Both of us turned to look at it.
"Hello?" Luc called out, almost whiningly.
"Master Lucifer," the voice belonged to Erica, "You're needed now." He sighed, I could tell he was rolling his eyes.
"Yes?" he unlocked the door and poked his head out. Now some people say vampires can fly, others not, but Luc did most certainly fly out of that door, but I had the feeling it had more to do with the fact he was dragged out by his neck more than anything else.
