Description
Location: The Great Hall; the Castle of IllusionThis fight, I'd lost it long ago, from the very moment I'd met him. My head now rested against the soft spot on his shoulder.
"I.." I began, at the last moment questioning my own actions, but still I continued, "I want to stay with you." I looked up at him, the happiness in his eyes was dazzling. For the briefest of seconds he looked back at the door; I knew the troops had already entered, but I didn't want to look at them, at the people I had now so freely left behind. There was one last twirl in this dance, and he dropped me towards the floor. My head fell back, so I saw all of them upside down.
Only one thing daunted my mind in that moment, one fact making me pale; it wasn't the fact that I was about to have blood taken from me, or that his fangs hung ready to bite, or that I was about to be turned vampire, or that from this moment onwards I could only die painfully. It was not any of those things, nor was it the fact that the rest of my life would be stained by blood. What daunted me most in that moment before everything changed was that I recognised one face in the crowd, my brother's.
He was one of the first through the newly opened door. But as he came through he stalled, stalling all those behind him. There in the centre of this grand hall was his sister, in the grasp of that dread vampire. The vampire made one last move, all of his intentions clear. As her head came back to view the world one last time their eyes met, her holly green eyes were stricken with sudden pain.
"Tai," her lips silently mouthed. The vampire was too drawn into his task to notice anything else.
"Amerisa!" the noise erupted from his throat, but it was already too late.
His fangs sunk into the right hand side of her neck, blood pooling about them. All about him he felt the room stall. The blood passed his lips, he only needed a few drops, but it tasted so good. So hard he had tried to wean himself off of blood direct from a human, trying to control his lust for blood in any form. Her blood was sweet, and taking one more lick he forced himself to pull away. Standing up straight, Luc held her unconscious form close.
The vampire raised his head, blood dripped from his lips, his sister's blood. Taiden felt weak, looking at his sister in that creature's arms.
"No," came his broken voice, not even a whisper on the now still air, his green eyes open wide, bright with running tears, "No."
"It's over," the creature of the night stated, his voice cold, lacking emotion, "You've lost." On the floor about the vampire's feet a circle formed, a dark fire blazing, licking about the creature and his sister's corpse. It flicked higher, hiding the dark Prince's face, engulfing those two bodies. Taiden wanted to scream out at him, run and steal his sister's body back, hold her limp form in his arms. But he couldn't. All he could do was cry, he didn't care that he was appearing so weak, he just cried.
"Amerisa," he wept, the tears coursing down his cheeks like torrents of floods, like lashings of rain, like blood gushing from a ripped aorta. The Prince dropped to his knees, chin falling to his chest.
"It's over."
Location: Land of the Silver Moon
"Amber," he whispered, "You need to wake up," he cradled her in his arms. Her lush green eyes cracked open. Holding her head in the crook of his arm he cut straight across his right palm with his sharpened nails, maroon blood dripping from the wound. Gently he lifted her head, his now blood stained fingertips staining her chin.
"Open your mouth."
"Your blood," she murmured, "It's toxic."
"No, it's changing," he dipped his fingers into her mouth. Her tongue tentatively touched his fingertips, tasting his sweet blood.
His blood was in my mouth, the intoxicating smell was heavy in my nose. The blood was on my tongue, I was tasting his blood. Pain gripped at my body, the blood in my veins burning, my skull in agony as if something was growing. His arms held me tight, stopping me from moving too much, but my mouth roared out my screams.
"I'm sorry, just a little longer," he whispered.
The blood mist covered her eyes, fangs were forming on her upper jaw, the screams beginning to die down.
"Just a little longer, it's nearly over now," Lucifer whispered, softly stroking at her cheek.
I was sat up now, the pain had gone. My head was nestled against his shoulder, his soft shoulder. I could still smell his intoxicating blood. Tilting my head I found his paled neck. Tentatively my lips touched his flesh. Was it taboo to bite another vampire; to bite the one that turned you; to bite the Prince of Vampire's?
"You can do so, if you want to," he cooed softly, his hand resting on the back of my head, softly stroking at my hair. My mouth opened, fangs poised, ready to strike. But I stopped.
"All this time, since you cast eyes on me, this was your plan, was it not 'my' Prince?" I laughed, but did not allow him to answer, "When you told me you were a Prince you told me that I could call you my Prince, I don't know why I didn't see it sooner. You've been wanting my affections all this time."
"Like I said, the first time I saw you, you were sleeping. From that moment, though I didn't realise it then, I loved you; but what I did know was that you fascinated me, that I just wanted to be in your presence, that I wanted to get to know you."
"And now I'm here, the archetypal vampire's bride."
"You're not typical, you're so very unique."
"My brother," I now realised, "He was there, he saw you bite into my neck."
"I'm sorry that I had to take you away from your family to do this."
"I don't care for the King or Queen, but my brother…"
"They'll think you're dead."
"Is there no way I can see my brother again, tell him that I'm okay, that this is what I want, and to try and get him to continue the peace between the Morn and the Dusk?"
"I'm sorry, but vampires are classed as enemies to humans, you'd be hurt before you had such time to speak with your brother."
"No, I understand, and I've chosen to do this, to be here with you, I knew it meant that I would have to leave my brother behind. How can we move on if we do not have a regret of our past? It's a new beginning now."
