Description
Been trying to channel my anger over rumors about the Old Maestro that just refuse to die into attempting some form of animated variants.I've seen many caricatures from children's books to fan artists and even his old animators. So I tried to combine something from all of them into one. I wanted to aim for 1950s era Walt specifically. By that time, he wasn't just in his prime, but also humbled a little bit.
From the twenties to the late 40s, you have a guy that fought like hell to get to the top and didn't always give credit where it was due. I feel like by the 50s, Walt had calmed down a bit. Not only did he have to keep up appearances to match his public persona, he was also more aware than ever that his name and brand had become a key part of American culture, especially when it came to the construction of Disneyland. So, on that note, I felt it only fitting to include him in some of my Disneyland short stories. Naturally, such an inclusion needed illustrations, so I set to work right away.
As you can see, I tried different things, attempted certain eras and while the likeness isn't quite there yet, I do think I'm on to something with the 50s/60s aim. I dunno. Whaddyou think?
