You're very welcome! I love the entire series. I would love to be able to get those kinds of results in UF. You inspire me to try.

The trick is simple, texture, texture, texture, and a bit of luck in finding the good shape hehe

Ah, yes! Well, I tweak a lot in UF. But you can count on me fiddling to see if I can come up with something like that.

Hehe you're right, never give up, never surrender !

Exactly. I'm bugging the daylights out of UF right now, looking for that look. I chose the fast Mandelbrot and used the switch to get a Julia. Then I zoomed into a good spot. Now I'm playing around with UCL's. So far, I have used twangle and thingamajigs. Thingamajigs will take you WEEKS to explore, I swear. I'm not close to what you did yet, but I'm getting lots of neat stuff along the way.

If this can help you, i used for this particular fractal the "Julia 1st variation" formula and the "Doodads" outside coloring.

Wow! Thanks for giving me your trade secret! Doodads has a gazillion parameters. I'll be up all night! But I appreciate the help! I haven't used Doodads that much. I need to use it a lot more.

Try the trap mode "6" and the flavor "A", it's what I used

My goodness! You're giving me the whole shebang! I really appreciate it. I will be tweaking a lot, of course. Couldn't necessarily find Julia 2. Is it one of the standards, or someone's variation? I chose one of the standards and started working on an image. It looks very promising.

I don't remember where I found the Julia 1st variation, you could use the search function (inside UF) to find it, or just use a regular julia formula, i think the result would be slightly the same

PatGoltz In reply to zzzzra [2006-07-03 17:11:16 +0000 UTC]

Ah! I didn't know there was a search function! I shall have to look for it. It would save me a lot of time. I played with the one I'm working on for awhile last night. Didn't get anything I want yet. In Doodads I'm not using 6, though. Some of the others are better.

Ah I found the Julia 1st variation ! It is in sam.ufm

Found the formula and have been playing with it. I came up with a few preliminary results. Thanks for your help!

A really great series and such a GREAT idea combining them with textures. It gives them such an analog feeling. Great background aswell!

you should build a whole planet in 3d

zzzzra In reply to Februar [2006-06-18 23:42:04 +0000 UTC]

Well I don't know a damn thing about 3D, I used to work for fun with 3DS 2 a VERY long time ago on a PC 486dx (the one before the Pentium 1) and recently Mojoworld, but i'm not patient enough for the 3D creation

Februar In reply to zzzzra [2006-06-18 23:49:58 +0000 UTC]

but but but, you could make it in flash build a planet of fractal trees

zzzzra In reply to Februar [2006-06-18 23:52:58 +0000 UTC]

Hehe I'll have to talk about that to a good friend of mine who likes to tweak endlessly his little Flash animations and interfaces He tried to approach the fractals with Flash, but it seems this program has some troubles with this kind of intense calculation...
