I think what you're doing here is great.
I am an environmental science major, and I have studied a lot of endangered species. You have a great start, but be careful not to pick out just the "charismatic megafauna." Lots of little and not so noticable species need help too.

Proof reading is a task that will need doing when the list gets closer to being more complete. Finding dA links to animals on the list is somethign I have a bit of trouble with depending on the animal. And finding external dA sites that support endnagered animals is great too.
Also, putting more information into your own deviations would be very helpful. Adding scientific names can be easily done by using Wikipedia [link] and the articles often show the IUCN status of the animal.
