What do you think about Mercury Black? Do you agree with people that say he's wasted potential?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DimensionDefender In reply to DaisakuKuzeFan [2019-06-08 06:52:42 +0000 UTC]

Now here is where I could say that just to spite Adel Aka. But I'm going to remain unbiased here.

I would say no, Mercury isn't wasted potential. As a matter of fact, we learned a bit more about his past in Volume 6. Granted we didn't get anything visual, but maybe we'll get that another day.

So far Mercury's just sort of been that amusing cocky dickhead, and I'll be honest, most of his amusing factor went out the window in Volumes 4 and 5. Yes, we know he's the mistreated son of an assassin, who Cinder took in after he killed his father. But until Volume 6, that was all we knew. So I believe they're setting Mercury up for something bigger.

Another thing we now know is that if either Emerald or Mercury can and/or will be redeemed, it's going to be Emerald. Mercury seems to have complete conviction in Salem's promises, while Emerald doesn't see any of what's going on as right and wants out.

Overall, Mercury knows where he's going and is fine with it, and the writers are likely setting him up for something huge in the future.

What do you think about these quotes:
Ruby is a useless and stupid children.
Blake is crybaby and a coward.
Yang is completely dumb and annoying.
And my favorite (Sarcasm):
Weiss is the best character in team RWBY and the best character in the show, and she is the only one with good development and the only one smart in the team.
And yes, these are real quotes.

That, my dear friend, is the song of the Ice Queen's loyal peasants.

Okay, all joking aside, I have no problem with Weiss as a character. She is one of the mostΒ well-developed, I'll give her that much. But to say she's objectivelyΒ the best character in not just Team RWBY, but the entire show, and that she is the only characterΒ with good development...no.
That's just people wearing their bias like a suit of armour and refusing to actually pay attention to any other character. You can say that a character is the best in your eyes, there's nothing wrong with having favourites. But saying your opinion is fact is another thing.

If my opinions are facts, that means the entirety of the cast should be showering Roman Torchwickwith affection. But sadly, he was one of the most beaten-down characters, even by his own allies. Apart from Neo, she was a sweetheart to him.
Opinions are just that. Opinions.

Thank you, I am really tired of Weiss's Fanbase saying the others are bad or stupid compared to Weiss, that annoy me really hard, and when they can't stop with the "Weiss is best girl" even in post when Weiss is don't part of the mess, or undervalue another character, and the most annoying thing about these people is they can say everything about your favorite character but if you talk bad about Weiss, you're simply wrong or silly

It geniuinely upsets me, too. Because there are some really nice people who see Weiss as their favourite. But the army of biased Ice Queen Elitists gives the whole part of the fanbase who enjoys her a terrible rep.

Hello, what do you think about so many people say "I'm done with RWBY" or "I left RWBY"?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DimensionDefender In reply to DaisakuKuzeFan [2019-04-08 12:16:11 +0000 UTC]

Well, it depends on their reasons.

If it's just because of a reason like "my favourite character died" or "my OTP didn't become canon", they just have no balls. I lost Roman Torchwick and Volume 6 has killed basically all chance of Blacksun, but I'm still gonna watch RWBY.

If they're leaving RWBY just because everyone else is, they are the definition of a sheep. If you're going to stop watching a show, do it for your own reasons, not because everyone else is ditching it.

Now, on the flipside, if they're leaving the show for personal reasons, such as Vic Mignogna getting fired because of Monica Liar-- I mean Rial...then I completely understand. I refuse to watch Gen:LOCK because Monica Rial would be voicing a character, but again, that's my personal reasons. I won't bash anyone for liking Gen:LOCK, and I'm sure it's a good show, but I have my reasons why I won't watch it.Β Similarly, if someone stops watching RWBY because of real-life circumstances, it's understandable.

And if they personally don't like the way the show is written, they are perfectly justified in leaving. Everyone has different tastes. That's why I don't like Adel Aka, he thinks the show's writing is bad but keeps watching anyway so he can milk the hate train for every scrap it owns. If you don't like the writing in something, you can stop watching. Or you can keep going to see if it gets better, but again, tastes will differ from person to person.

TL;DR, RWBY isn't for everyone. Yes a lot of people have said they're leaving the show, but it's impossible to judge a whole crowd as being of one mind. Some reasons are valid, some reasons look like they were written recently by J.K. Rowling. In my personal opinion, seeing so many people leaving one of my favourite shows is disheartening, but it's not the end of the world.

TL;DR on Adel Aka’s rewrites

Adam Taurus:
Yang is spared in V3 because she reminds Adam of his mother (also he calls the fact that they fight "the Monty route" and Yang getting oneshotted "the Miles and Kerry way" it gets under my skin), that Brunswick farm happened to RNJR in volume 4 where we learn he and his mom were kept as slaves (he considers this arc filler, make of that what you will), he is not branded. He wears a mask because it is more explicitly a symbol for faunus rising up. Both Yang and Blake's post V3 arcs are dedicated to training so that they can stand up to him. Sienna doesn't exist to get killed and instead the White Fang has a faceless council he serves, they allow him to do what he does in V5 because he is popular among recruits, even though they express apprehension. In V6 after Blake stops him bombing Haven he chases Blake not because he is spiteful and obsessive, but because the council orders him to in order to make up for his idea failing. During their fight he gets a few semblance buffs and nerfs like him absorbing energy into his body but there being a limit to how much he can absorb. Blake, Yang, and Adam visibly wear eachother down in their fight (Blake loses an ear for example), and Adam finally dies because he hesitates to finish Yang for the same reason as volume 3 (this sounds about as dumb as canon, but he expresses that a theme of Adam and Blake's dynamic is action vs inaction, with what they represent being switched at the end of the fight). Adam has an internal monologue after he gets stabbed and then dies.

Blake Belladonna:
In the Blake one he doubles down on a lot of what he said about her in the Adam one. Her character arc of learning to not run away from her problems is solved by the end of Volume 3 instead of 4 and she is revealed as an orphan because Ghira and Kali's existence made Blake less sympathetic.

DimensionDefender In reply to EngineGear [2019-03-28 06:37:35 +0000 UTC]

Well...while that doesn't really click with me personally, I can't fault someone for having their own ideas on a subject like this.

Still, if I had to give my opinion on it, I'd say that I heavily disagree on Adam hesitating. His whole thing was about being a manipulative psychopath who had no moral line he wouldn't cross, so making him hesitate to kill someone feels pretty out-of-character.

Blake being an orphan feels a little unnecessary, but I wouldn't have ruled it out as a bad idea entirely...at first. However, this would mean she was likely in the White Fang from a very, very young age, let's say three. Assuming a peaceful leader like Ghira wasn't around, Blake would have been raised with bad morals and likely wouldn't have left. She may have even become another Adam. So, that doesn't work at all. And if there was a peaceful leader to start with, Blake wouldn't have had the same kind of bond with them, she would've been closest to Adam growing up. Again, that means she likely wouldn't leave.

As for Blake losing an ear, this is just a personal nitpick that shouldn't be taking too seriously, but it feels like copy-pasting Adam cutting off Yang's arm. It doesn't add much other than Adam dismembering someone for the second time, and I'm sure Blake won't be hindered too badly by a missing ear as opposed to a missing arm or leg. Again, personal nitpick, so take it as you will.

Thanks for the TL;DR, kind sir.

I watched an EruptionFang video once or twice, and I used to watch Hero Hei (I don't anymore). I don't have too much experience with the RWBY reviewer community, but I hear that the majority of them are toxic. I can only really speak ill of Adel Aka, since he's the only one I've seen enough of to actually make justifiable claims against. Even so, the amount of negativity surrounding the community just disappoints me.

DimensionDefender In reply to DaisakuKuzeFan [2019-02-12 19:45:56 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely not. Ruby has had plenty more protagonist moments throughout Voume 6, Adam might have had his sour moments but still turned out alright, Emerald's an intruiging character, and if anyone thinks that Roman's not one of the greatest characters RWBY's ever had then they really need to reevaluate their thinking.

DimensionDefender In reply to DaisakuKuzeFan [2019-02-12 21:30:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's a bit of a task to talk about a lot of characters in-depth, so how about I talk about one of my favourites? Jaune.

Jaune's definitely one of the more developed characters. He's been here since Day 1, and in the time he's been with us, he's both seen some shit and dealt with some shit. From unlocking his Aura to his Semblance, and even fusing Pyrrha's weaponry with his own to ensure she's always with him, Jaune has had quite the journey.

Granted, he's not exempt from his flaws. He's still not quite the best fighter. If anything, I'd say he's still the weakest of his party in combat. Though, considering he was able to not get murdered by Cinder within the first minute of initiating the fight at Haven, he's come a long way nonetheless. And as we have seen on numerous occasions, he has some anger management issues, which have led to him making some really idiotic decisions, such as his aforementioned attempt to 1v1 Cinder at the battle of Haven, refusing help from Pyrrha back in Volume 1's bully arc, and lashing out at Oscar.Β

Despite this, Jaune is still a good character, because flaws are what make a character good. If everyone was perfect, it wouldn't be very interesting to watch. Watching Jaune deal with his emotions and strive to become better with each day that passes is inspiring, and it's just one of the reasons he's so beloved. Others include his heart of gold, his comical dorkyness around family and friends, and his sheer determination despite his shortcomings.Β

Overall, Jaune is a great and balanced character. He has his shining moments, he has his foolish moments, and he keeps us immersed in whatever he'd doing. He's got possibly the most overpowered semblance to exist, yet it has the most crippling weakness. Balance is practically Jaune's middle name, and he maintains it constantly.
