I feel sorry for people who choose not to read. It makes me sad that they will never know the wonder, sadness, hope, love that I have felt when reading a good book.

I agree. Although, I see a lot of people thinking it is because of technology.
1. I do not believe this, because technology allows access to such stories easier.
2. Technology is a signification of progression. (Whether it be to a fault or not.)

Technology is a double edged sword. One one hand it does make our lives easier, but on the other hand, I have seen a rise in illiteracy or just plain literary ignorance as an effect of the rise of technology and the use of it altering the way we use language. For example: My youngest sister, a high schooler, told me that they had to read Shakespeare (which is great) but because most of the kids didn't understand or didn't try to understand the works in their original language of old english, the school actually bought a chat speak version for the students, because they could understand that better. I cringed.
