Would you be interested in doing an art trade? I feel like I need to get out of my comfort zone with what I draw

Alright I couldnt come up with just one so I have two that you can choose from. Either Moses from the Ten Commandments ( Charlton Heston) or Rau from the game Mark of Kri (also rise of the kasai). Let me know what you would like me to draw in return

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Infinity-Joe In reply to rigigo [2015-04-15 12:50:35 +0000 UTC]

I'll go with Rau, because I remember play that game some years back.

As for you, took me a while to think of something you might not draw often, so figured you should draw the two brothers,Black and White, from the comic/film "Tekkonkinkreet"

aight, I actually replayed mark of kri a couple of weeks ago on an emulator. Still as awesome as it ever was. Currently making my way through rise of the kasai

Infinity-Joe In reply to rigigo [2015-04-30 03:53:11 +0000 UTC]

I started it the other day. It may take a bit longer, because I have two classes with finals projects coming up, and I'm also trying to push myself by doing more then just a figure drawing.

When do you add the ink to your watercolor paintings? before or after coloring?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Infinity-Joe In reply to rigigo [2015-03-17 14:59:04 +0000 UTC]

I typically add it before adding the water color, kind of as a cheat so I know where to stop with a color.

Hey Joe! Do you have any beginner tips for someone who is doing watercolor for the first time? (trying out new mediums)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Infinity-Joe In reply to rigigo [2015-02-20 00:06:52 +0000 UTC]

Sure. I normally use water color paper that is labeled as "Cold Press. 90lb" which I believe the higher the "lb" the less bend there is in the paper with wet.
I lightly sketch out the image with a "H3"pencil and erease a bit of it so it's not as noticeable. I keep two small cups of water near by, one to wash the brush with to get off the paint between colors, with a piece of paper towel to wipe the brush clean. The other cup is to get clean water to use for the paint.Β

Now when getting paint for the mixing, always go light color first to darker color (like yellow to Red) only because it's harder to get the red out of the yellow if you go the other way.Β

If you have one, you should get a small plastic tray to use as a mixing area.Β

With water colors, when it dries, it will be lighter, so you can build up colors if they are too light later on. Where as if it is too dark, you can lighten it a bit by going over it with a wet brush to lift some of the paint.Β

As for using the paint, start with the light colors before using the darker colors.Β

I think that is all I can think of off the top of my head.Β

What colors do you use for faces? I cant seem to figure out a good color pallet for face shadows

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Infinity-Joe In reply to rigigo [2015-03-03 01:00:11 +0000 UTC]

It depending on the skin tone you are going aiming to achive.
For CaucasianΒ I tend to Β start withΒ yellow ochre as a base, for darker skin I use burnt sienna (some times mixed withΒ burnt umber if I need it darker). Then, depending on the lighting and the area of the face, I mix in either Sap Green,Β Β Phthalo Blue, vermillion, orΒ cadmium yellow (med Hue).Β

I normally kind of wing it though trial and error, because I just have a set that has 11 colors (plus china white) to work with. Β It always good to have some scrap paper to test the color out on be fore applying it.Β

Thanks for commissioning Pine Pine (Space Dandy) from Β I enjoyed it too, and like I said there, I have quite a few favorite female anime characters who are unjustly neglected in fan art.

Infinity-Joe In reply to rudeboy308 [2015-02-09 23:10:41 +0000 UTC]

Indeed. Hopefully it would at least put Pine Pine more into peoples mind, that it could start others to draw her.Β
