As I said on your FaceBook page, your work inspires me! I've already been working on some jewelry plans, but they need tweaking before I'm ready to make them and take photos....

Bon du coup vu que tu parle français... hahaha!
Que fais tu comme bijoux?

LookshyLily In reply to AurelieChen [2012-04-10 21:01:51 +0000 UTC]

J'adore bijoux! I find that it's one of those things that can make or break a look... something as inconsequential as an earring can turn heads. I enjoy making jewelry because it's a physical part of my art that anyone can integrate into their daily lives. It's harder to do that with, say, a painting. The things we wear are the art in our everyday lives, and I enjoy being a part of that.

You speak a bit french? = )
I like jewelry too, but I don't know how to make! haha!
Not my thing.
I would like to see your creations!

I've been meaning to post some here for a while. Ma camera est agissant des maintenant. As soon as it stops chopping photos in half so they are unusable, I intend to take updated pictures.

It's a beautiful color job. Did you use a program? I just collected it from a page and didn't really get a chance to read the info.

You're very welcome; it's absolutely lovely. And thank you! I mean it, too... if it weren't for having certain people in my life (fortunately I'm a Renaissace Faire Brat) I wouldn't know how to do so many of the things I can do now. Every time one of my "old-fashioned" skills comes in handy I silently thank the people who taught me how to do it!

LOL, no problem. I find I appreciate those with the patience to use oil paints.... I can't be bothered to use anything other than acrylic, myself! (And yet I make 18 X 24 drawings with hundreds of thousands of little itty bitty pen strokes? Odd...)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SuzetteLarks In reply to LookshyLily [2011-05-28 01:08:27 +0000 UTC]

oh yeah I can understand why you pefer acrylic..because it dries a lot quicker almost like watercolor! no thats not odd it must be your style. Do you like impressionistic brushstrokes? Im gonna check out your gallery now. heeehe

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LookshyLily In reply to SuzetteLarks [2011-05-28 01:09:51 +0000 UTC]

Impressionists aren't really my favorite, but there are some Impressionist pieces I like. I've always prefered artists like Kahlo and Basquiat, the ones who have that kind of visceral gut feeling to their work.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

LookshyLily In reply to LookshyLily [2011-05-29 01:39:28 +0000 UTC]

It isn't so much about emotion... I dunno, it's kind of hard to describe. If a piece doesn't really give the impression of having a piece of the artist's soul expressed through it, I'm not usually very fond of it. Most Impressionist works are too calm and placid, like the artist didn't have anything left to give.... so I'm not really a big fan. Is that weird?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

SuzetteLarks In reply to LookshyLily [2011-05-28 01:24:10 +0000 UTC]

yeah those artists do show more of their feelings in their art than Impressionists do.
Impressionism just tried to captured a moment

LookshyLily In reply to SuzetteLarks [2011-05-30 20:25:34 +0000 UTC]

Thank god for Digital Photography. It's easier to catch a "moment" when it only takes a moment to snap off a photo. XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SuzetteLarks In reply to LookshyLily [2011-06-07 23:59:30 +0000 UTC]

yes but his ghost haunts all of his art!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LookshyLily In reply to SuzetteLarks [2011-06-12 23:44:39 +0000 UTC]

And yet most of his pieces still suck. Hrmm.... A total mystery. (LOL, never really liked Monet, for the same reason I'm not fond of Jackson Pollack-- too blobby in close-ups.)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SuzetteLarks In reply to LookshyLily [2011-06-14 01:13:01 +0000 UTC]

In my opinion Monets pretty good. lol so you dont like the effect of dabs used in impressionism..I like that when one walks away quite a distance from his paintings one can see the entire picture but when one walks closer to examine it ..its only brush strokes of color....yeah any one could paint like Pollack..by just throwing random paint on a canvas.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LookshyLily In reply to SuzetteLarks [2011-06-18 00:36:32 +0000 UTC]

Monet had good technique and an interesting style, but no soul. Plus for a gal with an astigmatism little blobs of things hurt the eye.
