And by the way, not to get personal, but I see you are in groups about self-injury, mental health, emotional instability, etc... if you ever need someone to talk to about that, just to vent, than Message me. I know how it is...

Well thanks for the offer, that's quite kind of you. But, to be honest, I'm not big on talking to strangers. I usually talk to my boyfriend, or a couple of very close online friends. But, maybe that's the avoidant side of me.

InitiumProductions In reply to MangledCorpse [2011-09-24 06:07:09 +0000 UTC]

I'm very, very avoidant myself... less so online, and I'd only do this with people who I know are not a "threat" to me (that's the PTSD-hypervigilance side of me)

MangledCorpse In reply to InitiumProductions [2011-09-24 16:42:00 +0000 UTC]

Everyone is a threat to me. LOL

InitiumProductions In reply to MangledCorpse [2011-09-25 01:23:23 +0000 UTC]

Well.... I was like that when I was younger. Now it's more like "99% are a threat, the other 1% may be"

MangledCorpse In reply to InitiumProductions [2011-09-25 05:32:31 +0000 UTC]

... I'm 23, almost 24. Not that young. =/

Actually, I think I'm more like that IRL than I am online...it's a lot easier to interact without face-to-face contact.
It's not always a horrible thing...I love solitude

MangledCorpse In reply to InitiumProductions [2011-09-26 15:42:54 +0000 UTC]

Meh, online is a bit better, but even then, consider the fact that the people you talk to aren't always who they say they are. Though I don't recall having anybody blatantly lie to me about who they were (name, age, gender), I have had cases of people making up stories. Like, people claiming to have mental illnesses when they don't, for example.

InitiumProductions In reply to MangledCorpse [2011-09-26 18:39:59 +0000 UTC]

Oh god, people who make up mental illnesses... fucking despise them. It's not a fashion statement, and if you actually DO have one, it's NOT something to be proud of .

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MangledCorpse In reply to InitiumProductions [2011-09-27 20:54:04 +0000 UTC]

Well no, it's not something to be proud of. But, I don't think people should have to feel ashamed by it either.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

InitiumProductions In reply to MangledCorpse [2011-09-28 02:31:47 +0000 UTC]

No, not "Ashamed" in the sense that you hide it and don't get help.... I think people do need to get help for it, and speak up. I know this for a fact, as I dealt with severe depression (among other things), I had absolutely nobody I felt I could talk to about it... so I went thru all that, alone. And think that there are so many people who go thru these things alone. Fucking terrifying.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MangledCorpse In reply to InitiumProductions [2011-09-28 04:50:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, as I said, no need to be ashamed. But some people will throw mental illness labels on themselves (whether real or fabricated, but usually made-up in this case), and brag about it like they've won a fucking award.

I had a friend before, who claimed to have all these mental illnesses (a list with contradictions, things she had no knowledge of, things that it was proven she didn't have, etc.), and she had NONE OF THEM. I have one of the ones she said for sure (which she tried to claim again, on its own, yet she still had no clue), and most likely (I'm in a diagnostic process still, technically) another one that she had faked, as well as knowing people with some of the disorders she tried to claim too.

Mental illness isn't "cool" like some fuckers think it is. >.<

InitiumProductions In reply to MangledCorpse [2011-10-29 02:42:33 +0000 UTC]

Ugh, faking mental illnesses. As bad as that is, I think trivializing them is even worse. Making them seem like they're nothing to worry about, and that it's just typical. That just gets my blood boiling.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MangledCorpse In reply to InitiumProductions [2011-10-29 03:43:25 +0000 UTC]

Well, I think it depends. Like, for example, ADHD is incredibly over-diagnosed (and commonly misdiagnosed), most people grow out of it (mostly because of the over-diagnosis, I'm guessing), and the government of Ontario, Canada still thinks people who "don't need medication" because they "function fine without medication" (THEIR words!) are still getting Disability cheques... THAT is something that should be a bit MORE trivialized.

But yeah, some things, people act like they're "typical". Like the assumption that Bipolar Disorder = Happy AND Sad, which is mostly untrue and over-simplified. So people say "Get over it", like they can shrug it off. Yeah, I get what you're saying.

Faking mental illnesses is probably worse than some people think, though. Keep in mind, these people faking either steal treatment from, give a bad reputation for, or try to demean the problems, of people who really DO have mental illnesses. Hell, despite having fucked-up mood episodes, I had a therapist claim that I was lying about my moods, and WANT to be diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder because "it's trendy".

So, to be fair, the faking, and the trending (celebrity bullshit, really) has had a real-life impact to me. Needless to say, I'm waiting on an appointment to see a better mental health professional though. LOL

I recognize the display picture, and the name is similar too.

By the way, nice album for "The Kids". I love kitties! My cat has this habit of sleeping in my leg space, so I take my boyfriend's leg room in the bed, and he gets annoyed. But, the cat IS practically like our kid, too!

hehehe Oh yeah! Same here. We give them the royal treatment. They are completely spoiled! We used to let them sleep in our bed but only because we were living at my g/f's mom's house had just a bedroom. We have an apartment now and they are not allowed in the room! lol

See, my cat is allowed sleeping in my room as much as she wants. My boyfriend and I don't mind, and she loves being close to us.
