My way of expressing that I appreciate something is to joke about it. If I make a genuinely serious comment, that means I found something I didn't like.
I can't tell if I'm hurting someone's feelings. My epilepsy is centered around my emotions. My mom says I'd "laugh at a funeral". Not to be mean or spite, but because I don't know better.
