That's good! I'm glad. I've been doing well myself. Going through a weird transition now that I'm out of school, which was made more difficult with the addition of my PS3. It's really hard to stay away from that thing. Derkasnake can vouch for me... I'm sure he sees me on there way too much.
Lots of family stuff going on too as usual. I have to get better at multitasking my addictions, haha. Or dropping one of them. Hopefully this time I will keep to DA. I miss it.

Yep! For Christmas and as a graduation present. So I've been playing all those games I've been wanting to for a while or rushed through when I borrowed them. Final Fantasy XIII, Mass Effect 2 and DA: origins. I hope you do! It's good that several of them are available for PC and you can at least play them that way.

Haha, no, but I knew he has a PS3 and it has an online network thing so we added each other when I got mine. It shows when you're playing and what game when you turn it on... sorta like DA.

Yeppers! And I do have a PSN account! Did all the downloading of updates and all the registering stuff right away. Haha, I was even playing around with that Playstation Home thing where you make an avatar and your 'home', and go wandering around aimlessly with all the other bored peoples in the virtual world. The PS3 certainly does a lot! I was surprised. I'm guessing you have an account, right? We should be buddies! I can add you, or you can add me if you'd like. I just kept it simple and used my devID (RadStratRadar) as my Playstation ID. We've got wireless at my house, so now my PS3 is connecting itself to everything, haha. Pretty cool.

Nice present! That's the next thing I need! I was worried the PS3 would look awful on my old tv, but it actually isn't that bad. Just small. Try not to drool too much at them purdy blu-ray graphics! And I hope you got one the those HDMI cables to take full advantage of the hi-def.

Yep, it is. And I'm very happy to have you comment on it, since I made the thing myself (using screen shots from Super Metroid on my SNES emulator)!
Yeah, I've been on a huge Metroid binge as of late. After getting Other M, it set me in a major Metroid mood and I ended up playing through the entire Prime Trilogy [again] (which are great games; Prime 3 is my favorite. Other M was so damn short... I 100 percented the thing in 10 hours). Metroid fan art will most likely be the next thing you see posted from me, since I do work on mood. And I already completely laid out a composition for it.
My first week of freedom begins on the 20th! So yeah, nothing until after then sadly.

Ah, I didn't realize that was 16-bit. Nice work! I'm sort of having the same thing on a smaller scale with Final Fantasy. Technically I'm in progress with 4 of the games, although, I did only rent out 13... (Yay for short attention spans! ) The one I'm focusing on now is the DS remake of IV. I guess it was Dissidia that got me interested in the franchise. (Although it did ruin what I assume was meant to be a major twist in IV...)

Thanks! SNES graphics are often surprisingly nice, and work very nicely for cartoony-styled animations.
Really? Which ones have you played through so far? Final Fantasy can be quite a time consuming binge! Those games are long.

I've never played IV myself, which is sad considering I bought it along with Chrono Trigger as part of the PS1 Final Fantasy Chronicles pack. (I did play C.Trigger though, which is a great game. Awfully long, but awesome story.) Ah, I've always wanted to play Dissidia! Is it good? I'm not surprised that it'd be a plot ruiner though. The only FF games I've played through are 7, 8, X-2, and XIII.

Yeah, the SNES is puuuuuurdy. A trend on Newgrounds lately is making games in 8-bit, but no one seems to want to try making original 16 bit sprites.

By 'played through', I assume you mean completed? Errr, well, none. Before now I hadn't really been that interested in the FF series but I guess a mixture of Dissidia and 7 on the PSN network got me interested. I will complete IV, though! You have my word. And my sword. And my bow. AND MY AX!

Hmmm, is Dissidia good...? Okay, the core system of the game is fun enough and there is replay value in the story lines for each character and beyond. However, the game can be reaaaaally cheap with you sometimes. Case in point, the final boss. Hoh-lee-crap, the final boss. I won't say who it is (Although it wouldn't surprise you) but it's one of the cheapest bosses in recent gaming. Also, the villains all have their own agendas in the story that can be tricky to keep track of. So, yeah, it's a good game but can also be very frustrating.

X-2 was technically the first game of the series I played, even though it wasn't for long and I wasn't prepared the ATB system the series uses. What did you think of it?

I haven't been on the Newgrounds website in such a long time! Almost forgot about it. Hmm... laziness perhaps?

Well, yeah... maybe I should have said 'started'. I actually wasn't into the FF games either until 7 came out, which was one of my first Playstation games. And it's good they have it available for download. About time, in my opinion. It'd be great if it was remade with FFXIII's graphics engine. Probably will never happen though.

Cheap, huh? Hmm. Let me guess... Sephiroth? Cheap as in.. easy? A complete let down? Or a pain in the ass? It sounds like a game that requires some investing into (which is the case with FF games), but is worthwhile.

Really? I'm glad I'm not the only one that was interested in it without having played FFX first. And I never did play X. I liked it! The graphics were what you'd expect from Square (pushing said game system to it's limits, and showing what the PS2 is actually capable of). It's a fun game. Starts out cutesy but gets darker and more difficult. Much like FFXIII, it forces you to invest a lot of time if you want to max out the different classes (or, "dresspheres"). Actually, the battle system in XIII really reminded of X-2. The sad thing is that I finished the game, but I do not remember the ending...

Yep, all of the PS1 FF games are on the PSN. After I'm done with these other ones I'm thinking of trying IX. From what I've heard, a lot of fans overlooked it because it went back to the series' fantasy roots, which is a really lame complaint. I actually kind of wish the non-mmo series would at least try that once more, even if people bitch and moan about it.

It's going to include Tifa, Kain (From IV), Vaan (From XII) and Lightning this time around. :3

Ah, ok. They should make a complete library of downloadable ps1 games. Well, maybe not complete, since there are thousands of games.... and I'm certain a good many of them suck. (Speaking of which, has game design become a cheap process? Because there are so many games that come out that have very little substance at all. Unfortunately, those tend to be the girlified ones that include things like horseback riding, barbies, baby animals, and so forth. And the many movie-to-game types. And then there's all those Lego themed games... I haven't played any of the above, so I can't judge them. But it just seems like "too much already". But I digress....). Makes me wonder what programmers and artists would lend their time to such creations... But then again, video games have become so popular now, I guess sales make up for it. Sorry about the rant, there.

But yeah, bringing back oldschool games as downloads for the new consoles is a great idea (yet another one stolen from the Wii!). Although there are a good number of problems with it, mainly publisher rights. Take for example Banjo and Kazooie and Perfect Dark. Both originally for the N64, but created by Rareware which now has its home with the Xbox. So instead of me being able to play them on my Wii, my brother downloaded them from Xbox Live to his 360. Not a problem since we have multiple consoles, but still...
Ok, that's the real end of my rant. I promise.

Final Fantasy IX is definitely one of those games that you either HATE or LOVE. The FF blacksheep, haha. Which is funny, since like you said, it's more like their classic style. Everyone's views on gaming evolved so much since then I guess, they've come to expect the change. Although ironically the story for the first Final Fantasy is really similar to XIII.

Sephiroth's a jerk! Nah, he was actually kind of easy in FFVII. But he is a pain in the ass in Kingdom Hearts. I understand what you mean by cheap now. A balanced AI is something I find to be a rarity. There are much better ways to make a game difficult without making it insanely frustrating.
I did not know that! Yay for Tifa... One of the few fist fighters of the series. I'm totally not surprised with Lightning being included. Being the female version of Cloud, she's undeniably a favorite of the game creators.
