It's a World War III novel. Basically, it takes place after the apocalypse, when only a small portion of the human race survives. There are little to no resources, which is what sparks a third world war between all of the major powers across the world. There's a bit of a romance aspect to it as well. Two lovers, Alden and Charles, are separated when Alden is drafted into the British army. Since Charles is an American citizen, he has to join the American militia. Their story is told through both of their point of views as well as through letters and rare phone calls between the two.

That's cool. Where's your base located? I have numerous family members in various branches of the military.

And I'm located at the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston, SC. It used to be a major base, but right now, there's just a few of us Navy guys and mostly Air Force dudes.

That's neat. My second cousin used to be located there before relocation. He's currently at the Pentagon, if I'm not mistaken. He was offered some sort of job there. I haven't talked to him in a while, so I don't know any of the details.
