Hey Lulu,

I still check deviantart every now and then, but I'm not really that active anymore. Personally I'm doing fine, no complaints. I just spend my time a bit different from how I used to.
Let me just add your new account to my watchlist quickly.

I still use this one, but in general I'm not all that active anymore in art-communities.

Hope all is well for you too!

Sorry for the late response!

Talking about those faves: no problem .

Thanks for all the compliments. My world is something that gradually came to existence as I started drawing (in fact, there are many older drawings in my gallery from when I just started drawing). I was inspired by drawings from Chris Riddell, Anton Pieck and Arthur Rackham. They all had their own style and created these interesting atmospheres in their works, that I wanted to do the same.

Every great artist has it's inspiration. Maybe one day I will become one
I see you're well on your way as well!

TimKb In reply to natliluna [2014-06-19 20:02:18 +0000 UTC]

Np, well everyone has their influences.

Having fun with drawing/painting/other artistic activities is the fundament of becoming an "artist". The word is often used to compliment the "greater" painters and craftsmen, but pretty much anyone who creates is an artist. You've clearly got your own way of creating your things, so you actually have your own style. In fact, i'm certain that people who know you and your work can recognize anything you've made as "yours". If they can and when I look at your work I think they do, you officially have your own style. As your technique improves (which pretty much automatically happens as long as you keep drawing (using tutorials or references can make it go a lot faster though)), your style will as well.

Looking forward to what you will add in the future and thanks once again for faving my work

It's getting together slowly. The 3D part is is probably what's mostly slowing me down. I'm also busy with designing an artbook, containing all my current concept combined with a short explanation.

So I'm afraid don't really have much to tell you about it :/

Cool! What's your big project going to be?

Doing well, discovered a huge set of model trains in the garage, my grandma gave me when I was a kid.

Selling some online, so of course I had to set up a track at home to make sure they work.

Why are miniature machines so cool! Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TimKb In reply to ThePlanetRodinia [2014-01-22 21:09:22 +0000 UTC]

I'm currently designing (Conceptually both concept art and 3D) a third person action-Role Playing game, in which terrain generation, the plot and the gameplay are all designed in function of replaying the game. The plot can go in many different directions, making it worthwile to replay. While the random-generation system I designed (based on existing systems of course) provides different environments for each play through. Combine it with a random loot system. And you've basically got the game i'm designing.
The main character as you've probably noticed by now, is Meredith Abel (that's why I have so many imagery related to her). I'm currently a storyboard to illustrated how the plot can go in multiple directions. Been pretty busy with it all. Got a deadline this friday for a part of it. On the same time I'm studying for an examn for tomorrow .

Anyway those miniature trains sounds awesome! I've always loved that kind of stuff. I especially like this miniature city that was designed by my favourite illustrator (which I without a doubt have mentioned many times before) Anton Pieck and was placed in the Themepark he designed as well. here's a link to a picture: static.panoramio.com/photos/or…

Miniature stuff is always awesome. As a kid I used to dream of having this miniature train that would go through the walls of my house via tunnels and drive next to the stairway and such. So if you layed down a letter in it, the people downstairs could pick it up and write something back. Is probably never going to happen though. But I really like that idea nonetheless.

ThePlanetRodinia In reply to TimKb [2014-01-24 04:54:28 +0000 UTC]

Your game concept sounds awesome, I think multiple outcomes is the way of the future.

I was thinking multiple styles of game play might be fun too, a super realistic one on one close combat or interaction view

An overhead shot for group interactions, conflicts, infiltration.

And a long view ship to ship battle screen.

My other suggestion is that if your going to have some kind of giant vehicle at the end, make sure the player get's to drive it and use it.

I was disappointed in Space Marines and Amnesia 2 that you didn't get to drive the machine at the end.

Your model train mail delivery system is genius! Theres really not enough room to build a proper track unless you go through walls in your house.

Your lying in bed, a little train comes to rest on the track next to your pillow. It whistles to wake you up.

There's a note on it's back."What waffles for breakfast?" Β

You write "Yes!" on the bottom of the note and send the train on it's way. Β  Β Β

TimKb In reply to ThePlanetRodinia [2014-01-26 15:53:14 +0000 UTC]

Multiple endings isn't necessarily the best way to play a game. It truly depends on the kind of game. Today I've played Dear Esther, seeing how you are familiar with Amnesia which is from same studio you might have played it as well. It's an amazing experience combined with beautifully written poetry and an incredible soundtrack.
Since my own master project only has a year of time (and i'm already past half of it) I can't get too ambitious with the content. So I figured I'd work with simple Action RPG gameplay (which conceptually I don't have the time to fully work out) combined with a random loot system, random generation and a plot with multiple direction, avoiding too much repetition. I don't know if you've ever seen The Butterfly-effect. This game is pretty comparable in that way. You get to see at key plot points which decisions Meredith would make dependent of her personality, which is effected by the player's own mood during key plot points (I researched the use of Brain Interfaces and assumed a hypothetical future where they could measure whether a player is getting aggressive or if he stays controlled. Dependent of whether the player himself gets aggrivated by certain characters Meredith's personality will be more aggressive as well). If you replay the game you can get to see how the situation would have turned out differently and how it effects the rest of the story. The player would also have the option to turn on the "unique playthrough" option which would make sure that even if he gets aggrivated for a second time at the same plot point, the story will go in another direction.

Yeah the modeltrain idea is a concept I always treasured. It might become my secret hobby when I buy a house in the future. (if I do)

ThePlanetRodinia In reply to TimKb [2014-02-15 05:10:33 +0000 UTC]

Cool! Great concept!

If I think I understand, it would be a video game sensitive to the player's moods and emotions?

I think that will be the way of a lot future entertainment. I think you should get a good grade on the forwardΒ

thinking alone, no matter how much you can actually realize before the deadline.

I really feel like you are bringing your imagination to the video game concept.

Yeah, the trains are pretty neat. As much as I know I should be working on other things, it's fun to hook them up and make them race around the track.

If they had an actual useful function in the house, that would be ten times better. Β
