I got a tattoo kit for christmas and did most of my right arm no practice just set up and went however i was using thermal paper for the transfer. every tattoo i have done has come out well mainly because im very picky about what i do and didnt do really thin lines till i had done alot of thicker stuff. I looked through all your pictures and you are a absolute hack you seem too have a massive problem getting the ink under the skin either due to setup or depth and the lines are faint or wobbly. you may also be either running your machine too slow or not using enough vaseline to allow you hand to slide smoothly giving you wonky lines. seriously im not master class but you really need to rethink how your working. the lines should be bold and smooth not patchy and wonky . a major mistake is a coil machine for a self taught novice. a cheap china kit is terrible build and can be adjusted 5 ways meaning you can set it wrong alot. a cheap china rotary is alot easier as their is no adjustment except voltage and hit. what you have to understand is if you tattoo the wrong person you going to have a really big problem. imagine a what a dad would do if he saw you had tattooed his daughter bad.

omg!!! ok, first of all, sorry to bother this with you, but besides my boyfriend, you are the only one that know i have a tattoo fucking kit!!!!
i've been using the practice skins, but they are so shitty, i will have to go buy some pigs feet or something. so far, i'm getting used to the feel of the guns. i will test it on myself soon enough! i'll keep you updated lol.
hope all is well with you!

Haha, awesome!!! Yea, I told you the tattoo skins were bad. They're too damn hard and rubbery. I hate them. Fruit worked for me, although I never did try it out on pig's skin. I heard it works really well though. If you don't wanna be stuck with a not-so-great-yet tattoo, you can tattoo the bottom of your feet. It will give you the chance to try it out on human skin, yet the tattoo will fade in 2 weeks and you can do it all over again Keep me updated!!

Ah! Its the best feeling when you get to open it up and hold your machines for the first time. You'll never forget it

i just purchased a starter kit today, i'm just itching to use it for my first time! i had an apprenticeship in romania, but I moved within one month of being there, so I haven't really learned anything. I'm just excited to teach myself! Keep practicing, I look forward to seeing you progress

Yay! Fantastic. I recommend practicing on fruit first in order to establish what angle works best for you, where to place your palm, needle depth, etc. You can also practice on the bottom of your feet. It is challenging, but sooo much fun! I wish you the best, and I can't wait to see some of your work!

yes, the kit i ordered only comes with 2 practice skins, so thanks for the advice about the fruit. do you know anything about switching needles between colors? or just cleaning with water..?

Just have a cup of water and let the needle run in it. If you're having to switch a lot, you might wanna change out the water. Idk, I haven't done any color yet actually, but I've done a lot of research. hehe.
