You heard correct. I am by no means a grand artist, but I do like to draw. I could use any tips you could give me.

Well.... which medium do you like using the most? Digital, paint, graphite pencil, or....?
Probably the first basic tip I could tell you is always have a consistent light source to help shade in the correct places.

Mostly I use colored pencils/ a regular pencil/ crayons & markers. I have a semi-ancient computer, but it has a scanner, so everything I do is on paper.

I'm more of a traditional artist myself, so at least we have that in common.
Me and markers don't get along to well, I'm still learning about them and trying out different techniques.
When shading, always go from light to dark that way you can judge how much you need. it's especially useful in graphite/pencil only drawings.
and lol I don't use crayons. Some people are able to make masterpieces with them, but I'll stick with what I'm good at.

I have tried lots of different things. I'm not really good with any of them, lol. I think that if I keep working on shading, then maybe I could do something really awesome. I can generally get the shapes I want, but the details are often sub-par. Especially drawing eyes and hands. I am getting better at hands, but not at eyes.

I wasn't really good with anything at first, either, lol. It took me like 3 days to draw just this [link] and then I gradually got better [link] to the point of making something like this in three days [link] (but as far as I'm concerned I haven't made anything as epic since then...
I know it's ridiculously oversaid but practice really does make perfect, but it sucks when people advance quicker than you... lol. I started drawing January 2009.. so you can use that as a scale I guess. I try to draw every night, even if it's just a sketch.
But I don't have as much time anymore. I don't know how some of those people do it. I guess they don't have anything else to do, because I sure do. ._.

Wow, thanks! That was a really cool progression. SHADOWS, that is another thing I have not even thought about until now. I really wish I had time to draw every day, but I almost don't think that would even be in the realm of possibility unless I dropped out of school, lol.

That's my problem too. There's the people who say "I worked 12 hours on this" and it's a ridiculous masterpiece, or the ones that say "meh this is just a 10 minute doodle, nothing special" and it's 10 times better than anything I could ever do. Which is one reason why I'm trying to make it a point to not diss my own art, no matter how bad it make look in my eyes. Because nothing is more discouraging than seeing a painting or something look like a photograph and then they say it was just a waste of 30 minutes or so.
How do they do it??? It's crazy. I guess I should've started when I was like, 5 months old. O_o

I completely agree with you there. I see other people's art and I am just blown away. There are some super talented people out there. Although I may not personally be one of them, I should take pride in everything that I do. What I do is my own style, and I think that I am getting better. I definitely think looking at other people's art is good, but not for comparing. I have to admit, it is hard to look at something like this: [link] and not feel at least a little jealous.
I think a portion of artistic ability is natural-born talent, but a lot of it is from practice. I enjoy art, and I am excited about getting better.

And I am done spamming Vulcans now. In the series, Zatch owned a few, because something awful would happen to one and he would get a new one. The 2nd movie is all about Vulcan, so it was a pretty important minor character throughout the series. Anyways, if you wanted to add it to your list, I would be forever indebted to you.
