Besides being a poor Michael Turner imitation (which is stupid to copy such a distinct style), you're also trying to sell prints of copyrighted characters. That's stupid in a whole different way.

I disagree, and won't respond to you after this comment. You, like those you speak of, are no different. I am paying tribute to Michael Turner, and his art. I love how so many people are remembering him a lot more since I started this. You are exactly as the others, the only difference is your insults are suttle, and you articulate you position well. But I am not surprised they found an intelligent person to talk shit, as apposed to the regular morons I deal with. Terrific.

This is for anyone who works for, or supports " Bleeding Cool". Look, I am all for everyone having an opinion, but the baseless personal attacks are getting old. If people like the stuff I post great, if not, don't look at it. You look for validation by having people respond to your idiocy. You idiots come online because you feel tough hiding behind that keyboard. The internet is a great tool, but it has also given every moron a home, and a voice. It's unfortunate that on the internet people are no longer respectful. You seem unable to have a civil debate about differing viewpoints. Instead you criticize. Have you seen my Kim Kardashian, or Charlize Theron? I can draw anything I see. That's what I do with Michaels work. I believe people still want to see his style of work. That's what I do.

If you want respect, act respectably.
And don't say you're paying tribute to Michael Turner. If you were you'd give him recognition as the original artist. And you certainly wouldn't be trying to make money out of your traces!

Dude, from all the hidden comments you're obviously getting flamed from Tim Townsend's watchers for art theft. So I'm gonna come at you from a different angle than I'm sure alot of others have. Rather than bash you for being an art thief, lets have a calm rational discussion about this.
You've been flamed for stealing Mike's work. It very obvious in your gallery that you're redrawing his stuff. There's nothing wrong with redrawing artists work who's better than ours. It helps us figure out how they did certain things so we can implement them into our arsenal of skills. But there are things that need to be done to prevent people from reacting to this in the manner that they've reacted to you. One, you should credit Mike with the original artwork. Two, you should explain what you learned by doing this. For example, "by redrawing "x" piece, I learned how to do the subtle lines in the face that give it depth" ect. I have several peices in my gallery that I drew after professional artists. And they're credited.
Lets be clear, I'm not helping you justify what you've done, nor trying to give you ammo to come back at the people who are flaming you. But in the spirit of having a rational discussion about this, I'm going to assume that you had a purpose when you redrew Mike's work, rather than purposefully stealing it and calling it your own.
I hope you and I can talk about this, rather than you just hiding my comment because you feel threatened. After being called out in Tims journal, the only course of action left to you, if you have any desire at all to be taken seriously as an artist, is to admit that you're still learning and building your skillset and that this is how you're learning. You need to respect everyone who's commented on your work regardless of how they come at you. Be willing to learn, take crits, continue to grow as an artist.
Swallow your pride for a few moments and realize who you're pissing off by reacting the way you have.

do they look similar to you?
ive read previously you studied with Michael Turner, so is J Scott Campbell your mentor too?

computeropolis In reply to Ric33r [2011-11-05 17:21:24 +0000 UTC]
Okay look, it's about body position dynamics. We all know all of them, and I like Turners best. Campbell is also excellent when it comes to body positions. Style is always a factor. I didn't use Keowns style for my hulks, or Marcs. Lee uses too much ink (Heavy shadows), for me. So yes I like Campbell as well, but Turners faces are better, to me. Campbell is great, but his faces are too Disneyish for me..

No Sh*t talk from me, just being real.
There is a massive difference between some of the "sh*t talk", and the point Tim Townsend is trying to send to you. I don't know about how far you want to expand on your ability to Draw, but there is also massive difference between influence and replication. If duplicating work from Michael gives you a sensation of pure Zen, thats great. In the end, If I want to see Michael's art work, I would search his name a bypass the imitators in a glance.
Everyone has influences, and a challenge all artists face is to eventually "mature" and "grow" beyond our Hero's of art. I will never stop being a fan of Michael's work, but I would have never landed a Job Drawing exactly like him.
Written Above it says Bruce, so I'm assuming its your real name. So I say this, People will appreciate Bruce Drawing like Bruce, not Bruce drawing Michael Turner.
Anyone who knows anything about the biz, and the progression of art, know that I have just spent 15-20 of my time to give you some truthful advise.

I do appreciate what you had to say, and yes Bruce is my name. Thank you for being decent enough to approach me in the manor that have. Uhm..., the Joker was just a drawing, no reference. The one with the 44 mag. Punisher too, I do like most, put a lot shawdow lines in his face cause he looked bland without it. Yes, I know I used that Namor sketch of Michaels to draw my Captain America. Needed a character without a cape, so there we are. My wife says you give sound advice, shes told me the same thing. Thanks again for your input, I will consider it.

It's very disappointing to know there are so many individuals who are clearly lack the vision I have for what I'm doing. So now I'm going to read how I stole Michaels Punisher too? If you people who talk shit are so "all knowing", then you know my Punisher was done without any reference at all! I remember when Michael did his Punisher the reviews were not kind, and he was the best! I would think anyone who wants Michaels memory around would like to still see art done in his magnificent style, but of course I'm certain I will read more shit talk, after all, everyone needs a hobby.

diablo2003 In reply to computeropolis [2011-10-31 19:36:19 +0000 UTC]
You're right, your Punisher wasn't copied from Michael Turner. It was Gary Frank. And by all means, please keep ignoring reason and hiding all the comments. Marvel and DC have both been notified about you.

Terrific! I don't care who you notify. You are mistaken again, it wasn't Gary Frank at all. Wow I can't believe there are so many people such as your self out there who enjoy hating as much as you do. Wasted energy for sure.

computeropolis [2011-10-28 22:26:59 +0000 UTC]
So you have talked to Vince and Frank huh? Okay, but when I was always over at Aspen it was Peter who would... you know what, look, all I'm doing is what we are all doing, which is to keep Michaels memory alive. I'm still waiting for a comment on the body profiles of Flash, and Bats that has Tims name on them. I realize Tim has his fans that believe he can do no wrong, but you're kidding right? Talk about tracing! Oh and Diane, you do skin art so you know all about tracing, but I'm not surprised that you would have something to say because that's what girls do.

Jellyfishman huh? Gay as fuck! I'm not stealing shit, it's not my fault other people can't draw, and have to cause some shit to those who can. My art stands as is, yes I use Michaels art as a reference, but thats it! He never drew that shot of either Hulk, the Wonder Woman, the Batgirl, etc. Why are you idiots so stupid?
π: 0 β©: 2
jellyfishman In reply to computeropolis [2011-10-15 16:46:20 +0000 UTC]
OOOOO ouch you said I was gay as fuck. really? that's how you choose to respond. You want to start something you can't finish. I'm not the only one who noticed that you're a rip off. Tim Townsend was the one that brought it to my attention, and by the looks of it you're getting a lot of bad feed back from a lot of people that have noticed what you're doing. And BTW tracing over someones work and claiming you did it isn't drawing. Do something original. I dare you. You think the people that have called you out are stupid? Stop giving everyone a reason to reason call you out.
And one more thing, LEARN TO ROTATE YOUR WORK BEFORE YOU POST. I mean really.

TimTownsend In reply to computeropolis [2011-10-14 19:57:12 +0000 UTC]
Ive been drawing comics for 20 years. I know art. I also know Mikes art. Youre really good at dodging the point which is that youre not crediting Mike on the art you DID use. If you know how to draw so well why are you using someone elses drawings? Why arent you drawing something of your own? Why not put away your Michael Turner books and show people what YOU can do?

computeropolis In reply to TimTownsend [2011-10-14 20:31:40 +0000 UTC]
Look whos talking! That Witchblade you drew, the 'after Michael' one, if you're going to try and tell me you did not use Michaels Witchblade as reference then you sir are a liar! I was not aware that crediting an artist was required, I thought the art did that. Of course I credit Michael, I thought what I drew reflected that. Didnt know I was suppose to write that down. So thank you for that, I will from now on, every time.

TimTownsend In reply to computeropolis [2011-10-14 23:40:12 +0000 UTC]
"after Michael" Witchblade....wha? I've only worked on two Witchblade related projects, one the series of covers that Chris Bachalo and I did for Top Cow and the cover I inked for Mike.....over his original pencils....for Mike. If you're implying that Chris Bachalo's pencils in any way resemble Mikes you're an even bigger douche than I suspected. If you're saying that the Michael Turner Witchblade cover I inked was penciled by me, again. You're sadly mistaken. That's the actual cover!
Hey, genius, You do realize I worked with Mike, right? Jesus, dude. You don't know when to quit.
