Thanks for the comment lad, yeah I guess it does ruin it, will have to see about removing the DA - it's just that I've noted a good bit of my stuff is now on the net and I did give em permission to post it just anywhere, i want it to stay in the art community here. Anyway friend I am definately NOT offended. let me correct that. Incidentally, I will be doing more military pieces, like WW II, now that my piping is coming along good. GOD I MISS SCOTLAND. My Family come from Ireland and Scotland Originally back in the days of the Potato Famine etc.
Legend has it that were related to the Ross Clan in Scotland.Β

not sure if your aware but a new Memorial is being opened in May this year which will be dedicated to all of 617s postwar casualties such as the Tornado Casualties brought down during Gulf War Operations and of course the Vulcan crew lost in the air crash whose ejection gear failed, amongst many others.
Its also to be opened at the same location as the original memorial and not far away from it.
long overdue - hopefully there will be no more names to add to it - but its to have space on it just in case.

Luckily where we live we have hercules (the real ones as well as the *cough* new ones) fly over regularly, as well as all the airshow traffic : D

were starting to phase out the herky jerks as a RAAF guy i know calls them, in my view they are the DC3 of modern times - lot of respect for them.
but....
prefer the DH Caribou - now that bird could land on a farmers land surrounded by raging flood waters
(as i have seen) and get up again, while they herkys crew would have said no way in hell!

myself and another guy wrote a book about the Rear AG who survived May 1943 from John Hopgoods Lanc, all the proceeds are for charity and its being released on that date.
The Gunners name was Tony Burcher, and he was a POW at Luft III and took part in the 'Great Escape',
as well as surviving the Long March and a Lancaster Crash returning him home after the war.
met him and he was a good mate.
real 'larrikin' - he spoke his mind.
just a small book but it has personal letters that he wrote to me detailing the attack in 1943,his opinion of Gibson etc etc.
